Inconsistancies

[edit]

As a intermediate/beginner french speaker I can tell there are some inconsistances with the French language artice, the French artice has more info. I can also tell the netherlands artice has more info. I would expect the georgian article does too.

Can someone please correct this, thanks lfclfclfc123

Why on earth do you insist in calling this Shah Mosque if it is Imam Mosque? Isnt it extremely political to insist on the name this mosque no longer has, when it is widely known as Imam Mosque in Iran? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 190.161.75.151 (talk) 09:44, 16 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I undid this edit for now, but if you can provide sourced information then there is certainly a case for this being moved and the wording corrected or, at least, the alternative name mentioned. May you go in God's care. Peter Deer (talk) 18:29, 7 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Suggesting this be moved

[edit]

In doing some quick lookups it would appear according to most sources that it was formerly called Masjed-e Shah, and was referred to as the Shah Mosque, but that in revolutionary backlash against the monarchy it is now referred to as Masjed-e Emam more commonly, the Imam Mosque. So, in other words, I think that our IP editor here was correct and that this should be moved to Imam Mosque, or at least that it should contain references and information regarding it being renamed. May you go in God's care. Peter Deer (talk) 18:43, 7 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Blue Mosque?

[edit]

Is this the mosque known as the 'Blue Mosque' of Isfahan? I have read about the blue mosque in several locations over the years, but can't seem to track it down on Wikipedia.Corlyon (talk) 03:28, 5 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

No I do not believe that it is. Peter Deer (talk) 12:10, 14 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Imam mosque/Masjed-e Imam

[edit]

This mosque is officially known as the Masjed-e Imam in contemporary Iran. This is in commemoration of Ayatollah Khomeini, known popularly as the Imam or leader of the Islamic revolution. Surely some mention should be made of this? To use only the pre-revolutionary title smacks of taking political sides. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 92.3.245.219 (talk) 08:16, 8 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

"Shah Mosque" is the most commonly known name for this mosque

Masjed ShahShah Mosque — This mosque has been historically know as the Shah Mosque. Internationally it's commonly known as the Shah Mosque as is evident by the following google book search: link; which the search returns results such as: link1, link2, link3, link4, link6, link7. I request moving the page to original Shah Mosque. Just like the name of Persian Gulf can't be changed to "Arabian Gulf" for political reasons neither can the name of any other place. I have no problem with the name but I think two links for the same place is confusing. Maybe this page and "https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jameh_Mosque_of_Isfahan" could be merged!? Rozi Sh (talk) 22:12, 24 May 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Jameh mosque is the Friday mosque, which is a different place, two or three kilometers apart from the Imam mosque. Yaan (talk) 17:39, 16 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]
