Renaming?

[edit]

I'm wondering if this article should be renamed to reflect the more common (and from what I can tell, actual) name: Route 71 Bridge (New Jersey). The NJDOT Bridge Survey refers to it as NJ 71 OVER SHARK RIVER (pg 1217 as you're scrolling) and most news articles refer to it in such a manner as well. For what it's worth, I live nearby (though not in the immediate vicinity) and generally see it referred to in that way or as the Shark River Bridge as well. This article is about a rail bridge, not a vehicle bridge. Djflem (talk) 15:28, 7 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]
==Cut from article (about road, not rail, bridge) ==
On September 22, 2021, emergency repairs were needed after the bridge was unable to open fully, blocking marine traffic for most of the day.[1] Emergency repairs were completed and the bridge was reopened on September 30, 2021.[2]
On March 1, 2024, the bridge suffered a mechanical failure that lead to "significant damage to the machinery of the North Bridge leaf."[3] The bridge was unable to open for marine vessels for nearly two weeks. On March 12, a crane was brought in to manually lift the moveable sections and keep them in the open position, closing the roadway to all traffic but allowing marine traffic to pass,[4] as legally required by the U.S. Coast Guard.[5] The bridge was reopened on May 31, 2024, just prior to the Memorial Day weekend.[6] Djflem (talk) 15:32, 7 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]
