  • when he was advanced to become first lieutenant of the 60-gun fourth rate HMS Sunderland, guardship at Sheerness.[1][10][11] He became Sunderland's second lieutenant on 15 February 1733 Is this out of order?
  • Not according to the source. Looks like a more senior lieutenant came aboard.
  • I presume that he was on half pay before taking command of Fougeaux?
  • Assume so but no source explicitly says
  • I suggest adding an OCLC # for all pre-1970s sources.
