Conservation status

[edit]

There are two different conservation statuses in the article. Is the appropriate one "vulnerable" or "Least Concern"? —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 219.75.49.71 (talkcontribs) .

It is considered vulnerable by the local conservationist, but only of least concern to global ones. - UtherSRG (talk) 15:49, 24 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Picture

[edit]

The Picture in this article is the same as the one in the main wombat article, however there it is referred to as the Northern wombat. Can anyone confirm which is correct? --24.92.255.217 03:12, 3 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Here are picture from the Yahoo search engine for Southern and Northern. It seems hard to establish the difference. Enlil Ninlil 04:55, 3 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

http://www.wombania.com/wombats/northern-hairy-nosed-wombat.htm states the northern has a longer nose this doesnt, it is short and flat and dark patches around the eyes. The southern has a small nose with white patches above and below the eyes, http://www.wombania.com/wombats/southern-hairy-nosed-wombat.htm. Enlil Ninlil 05:00, 3 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Final work here is the copywrite holder. http://animaldiversity.ummz.umich.edu/site/resources/eva_hejda/wombatface.jpg/view.html. Enlil Ninlil 09:31, 3 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I move it to the Northern article. - UtherSRG (talk) 09:59, 3 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]
But it is suppose to be a southerner. Enlil Ninlil 10:00, 3 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I've reverted. Perhaps the image could be reuploaded to a different name? - UtherSRG (talk) 10:48, 3 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Change to Australian English

[edit]

As the Southern Hairy-nosed Wombat is the Faunal Emblem of the state of South Australia, I strongly suggest (per WP:TIES) that the instances of U.S. English spelling be changed to Australian English. Cheers, Bahudhara (talk) 03:34, 6 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]
