New St Mirren Park

[edit]

Created this page as New St Mirren Park. Suggest that when stadium is opened this is changed to just St Mirren Park, while the old stadium article is changed to St Mirren Park (Old) or Love Street. Lord Cornwallis (talk) 12:42, 12 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Added construction cost and completion date193.130.113.210 (talk) 11:13, 28 October 2008 (UTC)BLF[reply]
The construction cost is inaccurate. The source quoted says the total deal to sell Love Street and build the new ground was £15m - that is not the construction cost. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Splancc (talkcontribs) 15:46, 7 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Naming (suggested move)

[edit]

The stadium now appears to have dropped the "new" and is just being described as St. Mirren Park, which was the name of the old stadium. I think we should move this article to St. Mirren Park, and move the "old" stadium to St. Mirren Park (1894) per the precedent of Wembley Stadium (1923) and Wembley Stadium. Sounds a good idea. Lord Cornwallis (talk) 17:58, 14 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Further to the proposed move below, here is an example of the new ground now simply being described as St. Mirren Park. I think the media usage last season was purely to disambiguate within the season around the time of the move. Jmorrison230582 (talk) 21:21, 10 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]
I think you are correct on that- I notice the club no longer use that on tickets or website here and even the SFA are using 'St Mirren Park' herefor the upcoming U21 international qualifier there. I think it might be appropriate to request a move again. Flyingscot (talk) 21:33, 16 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Requested move

The result of the proposal was no consensus to move the page at this time, per the discussion below. If you'd still like to make the move, I'd suggest collection of some evidence from outside sources to show that the current usage has changed. That advice, of course, applies to those who would like to oppose the move as well. Dekimasuよ! 23:59, 3 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

New St. Mirren ParkSt. Mirren Park — Think since the 'Old' St Mirren Park has now been moved to Love Street (stadium) we should follow through on the discussion above and this should move to represent the official name atSt. Mirren Park page. Flyingscot (talk) 15:06, 25 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

New St. Mirren ParkSt. Mirren Park — Whilst the move was requested and opposed last time, the new is fallen out of use with the new football season. As above the club do not use the 'new' tag here, nor do the SFA here and there are numerous examples of it not being used in the media here and here. I'd propose a move to St. Mirren Park with a redirect from the 'New St. Mirren Park' page. Flyingscot (talk) 21:33, 16 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

It isn't being proposed that the two articles are merged into one, rather that the current stadium article be moved to St. Mirren Park while the old stadium's article is at Love Street (its most common name). Lord Cornwallis (talk) 15:22, 23 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]
