Safty features of old Stutz cars.

[edit]

I think 4 wheel hydraulic brakes were among the unusual safety features, but I don't have the dates at hand. David R. Ingham

V8 ?

[edit]

I don't think the Stutz Motor Company made any V engines. I have only heard of straight 8s and straight 6s. Wern't DeDion and Cadillac the first to make V8s? David R. Ingham

ALM Stutz?

[edit]

Can't source it, but I've heard the '28 LeMans car, piloted by Bloch & Brisson, placed 2d despite losing top gear 90min from the checkers... Trekphiler 12:07, 24 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Pronunciation

[edit]

How do you pronounce Stutz, I am asking this because I am currently trying to create a spoken article for Carl G. Fisher and an answer would be most helpfulDeyyaz 18:04, 20 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

My father, who had owned an old one while in college, pronounced it s as in single, t as in truck, u as in us t as in truck, z as in zebra (though I am not sure that I can tell the z from the s as in single). David R. Ingham 20:11, 20 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for responding Deyyaz 01:31, 21 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

My last name is Stutz, and Americans pronounce is like "Stutts". It can be pronounced two correct ways in German: Steutz or Stootz. I say Stootz.

The "Revival Cars" section has little to do with Srutz company and should have its own article. C. C. Perez 16:03, 26 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

[edit]

Would like to propose a link to the following article about Stutz history - Stutz - Classic Car History Smithville 00:49, 18 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Clarity?

[edit]

Can somebody who knows clarify, "DV32 did allow them to their cars with a larger number"? Trekphiler 02:18, 12 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Clarification needed

[edit]

The article says

Stutz was forced to raise money to fund his automobile production, eventually selling the company in 1919 after a falling out with the company's major stockholders, Allen Ryan, who then went bankrupt.

Who were the stockholders and who went bankrupt? Who owned the company after the bankruptcy? AxelBoldt (talk) 05:36, 5 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Conflation

[edit]

As Perez said, this article combines information about Stutz with the later company unrelated to but named after it. 76.105.131.18 (talk) 05:57, 27 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Ce and format 21/3/2021 Comment

[edit]

@CZmarlin: I disagree with most of your changes, sometimes very strongly - you seem to miss the point so many times. However all I am going to do is tell you, and anyone watching, this to give them the courage to fix your mistakes. Eddaido (talk) 00:16, 22 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you Eddaido for your comment regarding my contribution to this article. However, it would be more useful to provide some specifics regarding your strong displeasure with most of my changes. This would be by identifying the specific areas where I seemed to "miss the point" in my edits. For example, my "mistakes" have included:
Was it the removal of the "in popular culture" section since it does not meet (WP:CARTRIVIA) guideline that has been widely accepted for automotive subjects is that mention of pop-culture references should be strictly limited to cases where the fact of that reference influenced the sales, design or other tangible aspects of the vehicle."
Was it including the standard conversion formulas for engine displacement and horsepower ratings?
Was it in correcting the text misspellings, missing commas, poor grammar, etc.?
Was it removing the excessive links, especially to common terms, as is described in MOS:OVERLINK guidelines?
Was it in providing better placement and common size for the images?
Was it in removing unreferenced boastful superlatives such as the meaningless "they were lavishly furnished" since the cars typically did not include any furniture and the list of features has ordinary items such as power windows and air conditioning?
As it is, there is little for me, or anyone else, to gain from your comment and thus help improve this article! Cheers - CZmarlin (talk) 02:05, 22 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]
"Ce and format" as per heading. As per text no other comment. Eddaido (talk) 02:27, 22 March 2021 (UTC) PS why does "a common edit summary", never tried this before, appear in the header?[reply]

24 hour speed record

[edit]

Discuss. 1924, 24 hours 2930 km= 76 mph, which is substantially faster and a few years earlier than the Stutz record.

Article renaming and dividing

[edit]

Hello,

I recommend that this article be moved/renamed to Stutz Motor Car Company to reflect the correct name of the business. As it is currently titled, the article incorrectly refers to the name of the company as just Stutz Motor Company.

Separately but related, as noted by the August 27, 2015 topic titled "Conflation," I also recommend that the information contained at the end of this article related to a later company called Stutz Motor Car of America be spun off into its own article with a link back to the newly-titled article. These companies are distinctively different operations and only share a name (that was used to create a connection back to the original company).

Does anyone have objections to these changes? Karloor (talk) 16:08, 28 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
