I think this article needs more attention. SIHE offers more than just degrees. SIHE offers HNDs and HNCs also. There should be a full logo here with date of establishment and the name of the principle.

Description of Swansea City

[edit]

As a user of Wikipedia I strongly believe this article should be about the Institute strictly as people can refer to the Swansea City article if they want to know about the city also.

This article to be honest has very little information on SIHE and requires more data.

This article needs more work!!!

[edit]

Can someone please clean up this article, it has very limited information on Swansea Institute!.

University ratings

[edit]

(I'm posting this to all articles on UK universities as so far discussion hasn't really taken off on Wikipedia:WikiProject Universities.)

There needs to be a broader convention about which university rankings to include in articles. Currently it seems most pages are listing primarily those that show the institution at its best (or worst in a few cases). See Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Universities#University ratings. Rename to "University of Wales Trinity Saint David, Swansea"

[edit]

The name of this institution has changed recently, see [1]. Any objections to moving this article to "University of Wales Trinity Saint David, Swansea" SamHampton (talk) 18:15, 30 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Merger to University of Wales Trinity Saint David

[edit]

Hi,

I'm Steve and I work as the Senior PR and Communications Officer at what is now called University of Wales Trinity Saint David (formally Swansea Metropolitan University). I would like to thank all contributors for their work on the Swansea Metropolitan page.

The name of the University is now University of Wales Trinity Saint David. This includes the Swansea campuses (formally Swansea Metropolitan) and the campuses in Carmarthen and Lampeter.

We are currently developing a single website covering all campuses which we hope to launch in January.

As a result of this change we would welcome, and support, anybody who would like to reflect the Swansea history (referenced on this page) on the existing University of Wales Trinity Saint David page.

Also, to avoid confusion would it be possible to remove the Swansea Metropolitan page?

Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated.

Many thanks, Steve — Preceding unsigned comment added by Steven Stokes (talkcontribs) 17:16, 4 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]

I have made a start by tidying up the introduction. I agree with you that, ultimately, the bulk of the information currently shown (relating to existing provision) would be better placed on the main UWTSD page. However, I believe that a brief article should remain here under the title "Swansea Metropolitan University", dealing with SMU's history for those who are principally interested in that question. It would, of course, provide links to the UWTSD article for those wanting to learn about the presently existing Swansea campus. -- Picapica (talk)
