Neutral point of view

[edit]

I've added Template:POV section to the activism section. The reasoning being threefold

1. There is a lot of space spent discussing animal rights controversy with only short mention of other unspecified "support of Indigenous cultural preservation". I think that even if activism related to seal hunting is the major component, this is a WP:BALASP issue.
2. It uses pretty judgemental language in a way that the cited sources doesn't. For example "which enraged animal rights activists" is a rather pointed claim and no equivalent appears in the cited source.
3. It includes spurious justifications. Sentences like "Inuit have been arguing since the 1980s that any attack on the seal hunt is an attack on the Indigenous hunt, because it destroys the market for furs." (no citiation) and arguing that seal hunting is essential to survival and culture (cited from the Guardian) are pretty out of place. They seem to be there only to justify a certain view point. This section should be describing the activism and controversy. For further context it may be prudent to link to Seal_hunting#Sealing_debate, which should provide an even handed treatment of the subject. I would avoid adding counter-justifications to "balance" things as neither is really needed.

It would be nice to address these points. AquitaneHungerForce (talk) 15:57, 7 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]
