Mexico

[edit]

Hello, the USGA claims that they represent golf in Mexico [1]. But there's a Mexican Golf Federation [2], and recognized as such by the Mexican Olympic Committee [3]. Can anyone help to find why there's this conflict between those organizations's claims? --NaBUru38 (talk) 16:26, 14 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]

The Rules of Golf from the USGA apply in U.S., its territories, and Mexico. The RoG form R&A covers the rest of the world. The rules are basically identical now so the distinction doesn't mean much. Tewapack (talk) 16:45, 14 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Ok, Tewapack, so the Mexican Golf Federation follows the rules of golf as published by the USGA. That makes sense.
But that doesn't make it "the governing body of golf in Mexico", at least as I understand the term "governing body". Your thoughts? --NaBUru38 (talk) 19:37, 14 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]
That's the term that golf uses, both the USGA (as you linked above) and The R&A (as here). Their are several levels of sports governing body in golf: the USGA and The R&A, the International Golf Federation, and the many national bodies (template:National members of the International Golf Federation) of which the Mexican Golf Federation is one. Some proposed changes

[edit]

Hello,
I am an employee of the USGA and would like to request a few updates to existing sections of this entry. The current information is out of date and we would like to update this information to be more relevant.

Thank you,
Janeendriscoll (talk) 18:35, 7 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]

In the opening lead section of this entry, please update the fourth and fifth sentences to the below. The current information is out of date and no longer applies:
“In addition, the USGA is a leader in turfgrass research through its USGA Green Section and has provided hundreds of grants to grass-roots programs. The USGA Foundation, based in Liberty Corner, New Jersey, currently focuses on investing in golf innovation, inclusion and accessibility, preparing future leaders and preserving the sport’s history.” [1]

In the information box in the right-hand corner, please update the USGA logo to the new logo which can be found at the following link: http://res.cloudinary.com/usga/image/upload/c_fit,h_41,q_70,w_152/v1/usga/cutups/logo/usga-no-seal.png

In the last sentence of the opening lead section, please update the USGA President’s name to Mark. E. Newell; also, Mike Davis is now CEO:
“The USGA is currently led by CEO/Executive Director Mike Davis, and President Mark E. Newell, and is headquartered in Liberty Corner, New Jersey”[2]

In the information box in the right-hand corner, please update the USGA President to be:
“Mark E. Newell”[3]
