Fair use rationale for Image:AynRand WeTheLiving.jpg

[edit]

Image:AynRand WeTheLiving.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale.

If there is other other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot 21:45, 31 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Kira meets Leo before she meets Andrei Taganov. The wording of the article suggests the opposite.

Second edition and revisions

[edit]

This is a fairly long article, yet it's written as though only the first edition of We the Living ever existed. Isn't some mention of the second edition called for? Particularly since Rand made some changes in the book for the second edition... Nearly everyone who reads We the Living will be reading the second edition.-RLCampbell (talk) 17:09, 5 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

It ought to be discussed. This article has been somewhat neglected, and therefore looks like a lot of other bad Wikipedia fiction articles: lots of plot summary, but very little on publication history, critical reception, etc. The other articles about Rand's novels could also use some work, but this one is the least developed. Feel free to dig in if you like. :-) --RL0919 (talk) 17:19, 5 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]
I've added a section on Rand's 1958 revisions and the controversy over them. Critical reactions to the novel itself, particularly to the first edition, still need adding.-RLCampbell (talk) 00:44, 8 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Other editors should be aware that I am the Associate Editor of the Journal of Ayn Rand Studies, which published the article by Susan Love Brown that I cited in this section. I have personally published articles about various issues in Rand studies, but not about We the Living or literary criticism of that novel.-RLCampbell (talk) 17:12, 8 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Character Description and Critical Review

[edit]

I believe there should be a description of the characters, at least the main three, as to provide a full description of the individuals through which Rand chooses to "tell the world" about the oppression and the horror of Soviet regime. I also think that an additional section critically analyzing the novel would help readers understand the novel better and thus get a more comprehensive and complete definition of the book. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Ssarkiss (talkcontribs) 09:13, 15 April 2010 Also, there should be more biographical content about the author and its relation to the autobiographical aspects of the book. A section on the biography of Ayn Rand and how much of it translates into the book will be helpful in gaining a perspective of the events and experiences that were true and important in the period. In addition,I believe there should be a separate section on Rand's theory of Objectivism and how it stands against almost everything that Socialism stands for. This will help emphasize the struggle the characters had to go through living with Objectivist ideals in a Communist country. This part should reflect on the vast differences between the ideologies and what place each one had in shaping modernity - Objectivism=Individualism=Capitalism and Socialism=Collectivism=Communism. New Movie

[edit]

It is time to remake this classic. My thoughts are Mila Kunis be involved in the leading role. Just no Justin Timberlake this time. Need a much more serious male actor who gets the content. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 216.195.89.58 (talk) 13:31, 24 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]
