October 2024 Editorial dispute

It appears that there is an editorial dispute regarding whether to list Michael Hollocks in the Notable alumni page. The first relevant edit was here, User:Discospinster left the edit summary "no article found", which was reverted by me here as "undue removal." I was in the middle of adding another RS article to ensure that it wouldn't be removed, but it was quickly reverted again here. Discospinster left the same edit summary, but added WP:Write the article first.

After that, I attempted to seek a compromise and have a discussion with Discospinster on their talk page here which I will copy and paste below:

Re: Michael Horrocks on West Chester University notable people. WP:WTAF refers to redlinks, not to lists of notable people. According to WP:EXEMPT1E, If the person is famous for a specific event, the notability requirement need not be met. If a person in a list does not have a Wikipedia article about them, a citation (or link to another article) must be provided". Two such links were provided, United Airlines flight 175 and September 11, 2001.
Finally, WP:BLP1E says We generally should avoid having an article (WTAF) on a person when...Reliable sources cover the person only in the context of a single event [and]....The person otherwise remains, and is likely to remain, a low-profile individual. The last two comments by Discospinster indicated their unwillingness to self-revert because they think that Michael Hollocks needs to be "famous" to be mentioned on the list. I was going to point out that the person doesn't need to be famous according to WP:PEOPLELIST. The language I used in my comment, that "The person's membership in the list's group is established by reliable sources" comes from there. But as this dispute appears to be getting contentious I decided to try to solicit an outside opinion on the Wikipedia:Dispute resolution noticeboard and it appears that they want to know Has this issue been discussed extensively on the article talk page? So I'm asking for all further discussion in this matter to be posted on the article talk page here. 16:43, 8 October 2024 (UTC)
