Adding date broke citation template

[edit]

Hello, Trappist the monk! Can you please help me, and let me know (explain) why did my edit of adding date to {{cite web...}} at https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=World_Society_for_Virology&diff=1198963722&oldid=1193556076 broke citation template, If I understood correctly your edit summary for https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=World_Society_for_Virology&diff=1198995779&oldid=1198963722

Thank you very much for your help! I would like my edits to be beneficial, so need to know when I am doing something wrong.

Thank you again. Maxim Masiutin (talk) 19:01, 25 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]

It wasn't the date. You broke this template when you added {{CS1 config|name-list-style=vanc}}. Compare with the article's previous version.
You have broken a lot of templates by adding {{CS1 config|name-list-style=vanc}}. If you are going to add that template, you are responsible for making sure that you haven't broken anything – that includes fixing the Vancouver errors as well making sure that the article doesn't get added to Category:CS1 maint: overridden setting.

OK, thank you for pointing out my attention to this issue. I didn't know that. Let me fix this so that the pages will no longer be in this category. Maxim Masiutin (talk) 10:21, 26 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Would you mind if I just put the date but not the "cs1 config" template? This is quite strange that "vauthors" with a non-Latin character (which is not allowed in Vancouver style) until you add "cs1 config". It was a non-latin character which is anyway incorrect. Here is what the attribute was:
vauthors=Abdel-Moneim AS, Varma A, Pujol FH, Lewis GK, Paweska JT, Romalde JL, Söderlund-Venermo M, Moore MD, Nevels MM, Vakharia VN, Joshi V, Malik YS, Shi Z, Memish ZA
The character "ö" in the name Söderlund was not allowed for Vancouver style. It is explained in https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Category:CS1_errors:_Vancouver_style
How do you think I could fix that character? Maxim Masiutin (talk) 10:37, 26 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I hope I resolved all the errors and so that when I put the cs1 template back there is no longer an error. See the Page history for details. Maxim Masiutin (talk) 10:54, 26 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I have purged the category "CS1_maint:_overridden_setting" - it is now empty https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Category:CS1_maint:_overridden_setting Maxim Masiutin (talk) 17:32, 8 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
