  • Comment: I created a "Fencepost limestone" stub in the article namespace so that there would be no red links in the many articles, Commons categories, and images that I wanted linked to the future article. I then wrote the main article off line, only loading it into my sandbox a couple weeks ago so I could show it to my farming family at a reunion. I continued with some minor cleanups until I copied it into the article namespace. Really, today, it is a new article, replacing a stub, but, technically, it is an expanded article. The ALT1 hook would use the present Infobox image, File:Endpost20150718.jpg.

5x expanded by IveGoneAway (talk). Self-nominated at 14:52, 29 September 2018 (UTC).

  • Comment Seems to meet all the criteria. Long enough, cited, NPOV, hook (first one) is broadly interesting (2d, IMO, not so much). TREKphiler any time you're ready, Uhura 05:52, 30 September 2018 (UTC)
@Trekphiler: please use one of the icons located above the edit window to complete your review. If you're approving a hook for which you can verify the fact, use a green icon. If it's an offline or foreign-language source, use a gray icon. If you're calling for more work on the hook or nomination, use a question mark icon. Thanks, Yoninah (talk) 13:23, 21 October 2018 (UTC)
  • This needs a reviewer to do a full review, including icon. Thanks. BlueMoonset (talk) 15:20, 29 October 2018 (UTC)
  • QPQ is not required as just 1 credit, new enough and 5x expanded, copvio is clear. I had a read through and can see half a dozen paragraphs that don't have any refs, each paragraph must have atleast one ref. I will look at the hooks and associated pictures after referencing. Szzuk (talk) 22:13, 30 October 2018 (UTC)
  • I will see what I can do about those paragraphs. I have been away for a few weeks. Maybe tonight, I was planning some work this weekend. IveGoneAway (talk) 18:22, 31 October 2018 (UTC)
  • Last night turned into a family night, so, no cites added, sorry. I will do it. Several of the unreferenced paragraphs are single sentences I set apart for brevity and readability, and some I did not cite as I saw them as thesis statements supported by citation in following paragraphs, but at this point it might not be perceived a good faith to merge the one liners into larger paragraphs, so, please bear with me as I regather references. IveGoneAway (talk) 12:18, 1 November 2018 (UTC)
I'm not going to be checking whether you've merged sentences or even deleted challenge-able material, that isn't part of the review process, I can remember seeing some kind of quote/plaque, those are tricky and someone might want that refd. Szzuk (talk) 13:32, 1 November 2018 (UTC)
About all I can do is link to a close-up of the plaque, a picture of that plaque in context was already in the article. I will add some more tomorrow, sorry so slow. IveGoneAway (talk) 03:45, 2 November 2018 (UTC) 03:46, 2 November 2018 (UTC) 23:48, 2 November 2018 (UTC)
The article has been fully refd. ALT0 is a little long and has a lot packed into it, I will remove a few words but leave it intact in another alt below, the pic is properly licensed. The ref is offline but the book and page number are given, and so assumed in good faith. ALT1 is not currently eligible because the reference given does not use the word 'sunflowers' (unless i missed it) and the word icon is a Wikipedia:Manual of Style/Words to watch. To use this you'd need a new ref.
  • If you are happy with ALT2 then I will approve this, alternatively you can make adjustments. Szzuk (talk) 10:08, 4 November 2018 (UTC)
  • I think ALT2 is great. Thank you for the inspiration to (re)find the additional citations, most of them were things I had read, but hadn't captured. Thank you about the pointer for not using "iconic" without citation. I started out with that feeling a need to justify the subject, but the available publications on the Fencepost now seems justification enough. I have a citation that calls it "signature", and can find any number of comments calling it iconic. After sunflowers, the stone post with leaner is an internal symbol of Kansas, and more unique to the state than sunflowers, but now, to state such may be guiding the lily. It is a nice article, I've completed the review and added the tick. Szzuk (talk) 16:01, 4 November 2018 (UTC)
