Naismith: 'Traders in London came from all over northern Europe: those of Rouen, Flanders, Ponthieu, Normandy and Francia are singled out, as well as others from specific towns in the Low Countries (Huy, Liège and Nivelles) and a group referred to as ‘the men of the emperor’ (homines imperatoris) who had especially wideranging

privileges.'
