Van Cortlandt Park

[edit]

5x expanded by Epicgenius (talk) and Tdorante10 (talk). Nominated by Epicgenius (talk) at 22:53, 13 January 2017 (UTC).

  • Thank you for detailed article, based on plenty of excellent sources, offline sources accepted AGF! Great expansion, no copyvio obvious. - Sorry, I don't like the hooks too much, am a bit allergic to "future", - I would prefer something about the park itself, with a picture? The gate is nice, and the painting even nicer! In the article, can you move the painting more to the context of the 1930s, please? Before going to GA, write a bit more lead ;) --Gerda Arendt (talk) 21:56, 23 January 2017 (UTC)
  • (Not a full review) In addition to the above concerns, a QPQ review appears to be needed before this can move forward. North America1000 11:26, 30 January 2017 (UTC)
  • @Gerda Arendt: Sorry for the delayed response, and thank you for the review. I will address some of these concerns soon. The article is not half-improved yet, as I have to add a lot more info in the future. Anyway, here's a hook #4:
Thank you, I like that, but not the Easter egg ;) - Of you want attraction to the marsh, do something like
ALT5: ... that Van Cortlandt Park contains New York City's last freshwater marsh? or
ALT6: ... that Van Cortlandt Park contains Tibbetts Brook, New York City's last freshwater marsh? but if you want to focus on the park, say
ALT7: ... that Van Cortlandt Park contains New York City's last freshwater marsh? --Gerda Arendt (talk) 06:36, 2 February 2017 (UTC)
  • @Gerda Arendt: I like ALT6 the most because it explicitly names Tibbetts Brook, which was what I was getting at. epicgenius (talk) 00:56, 3 February 2017 (UTC)
just a review missing then ;) --Gerda Arendt (talk) 08:05, 3 February 2017 (UTC)

  • @Epicgenius: As far as I can see, the source given for the hook statement does not contain the fact that this is "New York City's last freshwater marsh". Cwmhiraeth (talk) 06:29, 9 February 2017 (UTC)
  • @Cwmhiraeth: Thanks for pointing it out. I didn't see it either. How about this: epicgenius (talk) 17:21, 9 February 2017 (UTC)
ALT8 looks good to me, or will do when you add the information about the oldest public golf course to the article, - I see it in the source (#73). Cwmhiraeth (talk) 18:30, 9 February 2017 (UTC)
@Cwmhiraeth:  Done. I thought that "first golf course" implied "oldest golf course", but apparently not so... epicgenius (talk) 20:22, 9 February 2017 (UTC)
@Gerda Arendt: Thank you. We will see if Gerda approves and would like to add back her tick. Cwmhiraeth (talk) 20:59, 9 February 2017 (UTC)
ALT8, sorry that I was so impressed by the salt marsh that I didn't check back, and thank you for doing that! --Gerda Arendt (talk) 21:09, 9 February 2017 (UTC)
