Overlap
[edit]This seems to overlap a lot with {{Nihongo2}}. --Apoc2400 (talk) 09:01, 19 January 2009 (UTC)
- I agree. Is there a preference for this template over another - I feel like I've see more style guides reference this one, but in practice {{Nihongo}} is used. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Kitty4777 (talk • contribs) 10:38, 30 January 2016 (UTC)

Someone please fix lit param
[edit]It currently doesn't display; see Template:Lang-el for a working example. Jujutsuan (talk | contribs) 02:10, 8 June 2016 (UTC)
- Also the translit param doesn't even show up in the visual editor. Jujutsuan (talk | contribs) 02:11, 8 June 2016 (UTC)

Please replace the contents of this template with the contents of the sandbox (revision 736490151), which I have converted to use Template:Language with name and transliteration (like Template:Lang-ru and some others) and to incorporate the requests from User:Xxglennxx and User:Jujutsuan above. Thanks! — OwenBlacker (Talk) 21:31, 27 August 2016 (UTC)

Under "Usage", "in Japanese language" is ungrammatical, and should be either "in Japanese" or "in the Japanese language". Imaginatorium (talk) 04:58, 4 May 2018 (UTC)
- Not done: According to the page's protection level you should be able to edit the page yourself. If you seem to be unable to, please reopen the request with further details. — JJMC89 (T·C) 06:10, 4 May 2018 (UTC)
- Thanks. Well, I get "You do not have permission to edit this page, for the following reason..." This did seem a bit odd to me, because protecting the actual template (code) makes sense, whereas this, although called "Template" is actually the Documentation, not the code, and I ought to be able to (copy)edit it. Perhaps there is some error somewhere? Imaginatorium (talk) 07:33, 4 May 2018 (UTC)
- The template is template protected. It only allows either an admin or a template editor to edit it. I've added the correct edit request template (Template:Edit template-protected), so someone with the appropriate permissions should be along soon. NiciVampireHeart 12:44, 4 May 2018 (UTC)

- Well, I explored various of these generic links, but cannot find anything that looks like this page (i.e. the human-readable explanation of the specific template Lang-ja). But I surmise that this is generated from some meta-template somewhere, and I think that writing "in <lang> language" is ungrammatical for any language with the English name <lang>, and the "language" should be removed from the meta-template. Way to remove Japanese: needed, not just link
[edit]This edit request has been answered. Set the |answered= or |ans= parameter to no to reactivate your request. |
A way to remove "Japanese:" is very much needed. This is, I feel, a big reason why {{Nihongo}} and {{Nihongo2}} are used in practice, and I've just run into it again while editing renko chart (while adding the alternate writing). Please add a flag which removes "Japanese:". Psiĥedelisto (talk) 02:35, 11 December 2018 (UTC)
- You could use
{{lang|ja|フウバー}} ({{transl|ja|foobar}})
To make フウバー (foobar).--Nessie (talk) 03:34, 11 December 2018 (UTC) - Not done: Per the above, the correct template for use is {{lang}}. Izno (talk) 04:18, 11 December 2018 (UTC)
