Map and borders

[edit]

I was very happy to find this beautiful route map of the Stockholm Metro. Very impressive!

However, I made a few changes to the template. It was easier to show my ideas by editing the template rather than only describe them. So don't hesitate to undo my edit if you feel it wasn't an improvement.

The old png map that was on top of this template was more or less superfluous, showing almost the same thing as the route map. Thus I removed it. I also removed the administrative borders from the route map. The administrative borders have no practical meaning for the operation of the metro. And the whole metro network is within the same fare zone. It might perhaps be of interest to some readers to know where the administrative borders are located. But the same would also apply to rivers, bridges, tunnels etc. And adding to much information would make the map less readable. I believe this map is better off with a pure and clean layout.

Some networks and railways are somewhat too complex to be illustrated with a route diagram template. But this one looks very good! It is also nice that it was possible to draw the lines with the correct colors. --Kildor (talk) 23:12, 18 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I quite like to keep the map image as well, as it gives the readers an impression of actual location of stations and lines. And I like versions with additional features (ie. borders) better. But I'm not convinced that any of these is real important, so I'm not going to revert anything. I only slightly miss the time spent figuring out which station is in which municipality. ;) --Uzyel (talk) 14:33, 19 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]
