I believe that I did not properly attribute this template in the edit summary when I created it a few days ago. The table is mostly not my work, it came from this version of Legality of cannabis by U.S. jurisdiction.--Jamesy0627144 (talk) 17:03, 2 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Medical table issues

[edit]

For the medical use table that was recently added, I noticed that all of the dates shown for the ballot initiatives are in early November, even though a lot of those states such as Massachusetts and South Dakota did not have medical laws that took effect immediately upon passage. This is inconsistent with other states in the table, such as Illinois and New Mexico that legalized by legislature, that show the date that the law actually went into effect, rather than the date that the law was approved. So there is an inconsistency in the table and incorrect information, and until this is sorted out I think it is best to comment out the medical table as the template previously existed.

The date that the recreational use table uses is the date that the law actually went into effect BTW. It would be ideal for the medical use table to follow this convention as well, but not a necessity. If the two tables use different conventions though this is something that should be clarified in the table headers by the naming them differently (perhaps "Date taking effect" for the recreational table and "Date legislation passed" or "Date approved" for the medical table).--Jamesy0627144 (talk) 15:32, 9 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]
