Nvart Andreassian (November 4, 1952, Istanbul/Turkey) Armenian conductor and Teacher.

Biography

Nvart Andreassian was born in an Armenian intellectual family in Istanbul. In 1967 she moved to Soviet Armenia, where she studied at the conducting department of Yerevan's Romanos Melikyan Music College under Herman Terteryan, and graduated in 1971, receiving the qualification of choir and orchestra conductor. She moved to France in 1974. She studied at the École Normale de Musique de Paris under Pierre Dervaux, developed her operatic and symphonic conducting skills, and received a high conducting certificate. In 1976-1978 she was appointed assistant conductor at the Paris Grand Opera and Orchestre de Paris. Nvart Andreassian studied in master classes with conductors: Michel Tabachnik, Jean Fournet, Peter Eotvos, Igor Markievitch. She also attended music analyze courses; Modern and Contemporary Music with Max Deutsch, Romantic music with Roland Catoire, and advanced conducting courses with Sergiù Celibidache and Pierre Boulez. In the 2010s, she returned to Turkey, and in July 2010 she organized the Armenian-Turkish Youth Symphony Orchestra/ ATYO. Collaborated with Istanbul State Symphony Orchestra, and Bursa State Symphony Orchestra in Turkey. She worked as a chief conductor and artistic director in different countries. She resettled in Armenia in 2017 and received Armenian citizenship in 2018.

Performances and tours

She had concerts in France at the Paris Grand Opera, in 1980-2003 she was the leader and chief conductor of the Polychromie Ensemble of Contemporary Music, in 1980-1989 the Youth Orchestra of the Lille Conservatory, in 1982-1987 the Ensemble of Contemporary Music. 1998 -2001, Nvart Andreassian was the chief conductor of Tianjin State Conservatory Youth Symphony Orchestra and Tianjin State Symphony Orchestra/China. Since 1996, he has toured in South America; Brazil, Uruguay In 1985-1986 she conducted the Clara Schumann Symphony Orchestra/Germany, in 1988 and 1990 the European Contemporary Music Ensemble in Berlin, and in 1989 the French Contemporary Music Ensemble GRISS. In 1993-1995, she was the first guest conductor of the National Opera of Armenia, the State Philharmonic Orchestra of Armenia and the National Chamber Orchestra of Armenia (1995-1996), as well as the guest leader of the New Music Ensemble of the Union of Composers of Armenia. She also had concerts in Russia, Turkey, Italy, Belgium, the Netherlands, Germany, and China.

Teaching activities

Nvart Andreassian was also active in the university sector in France and other countries. In the years 1981-1989, she set up and was the teacher of the choral and orchestral conducting department at the Conservatory of Lille/France Nvart Andreassian gave Master Classes on "Performing Art of Contemporary Music" at Moscow Tchaikovsky State Conservatory; she taught Contemporary Performing Arts at the Chamber Music Department of the Tianjin State Conservator and China Central Conservatory of Music in Beijing / China. Since 2020 she is teaching online Contemporary Music Analyze and Conducting techniques.
