Hello, many thanks for the suggestions on the International Health Partnership page. I am wondering how to update this page without incurring the advertisement message on the top of the page? I removed additional external links and added numerous references. Do you have any other suggestions? How can I get this message removed from the top of the page? — Preceding unsigned comment added by ClaireKairys (talkcontribs) 19:44, 2 October 2012 (UTC)

Hi Grandiose, I've reviewed this nomination of yours and I'm just waiting for a few "minor points" to be considered/addressed before completing my assessment, i.e. award of GA (see Talk:History of Brasenose College, Oxford/GA1). Thanks. Pyrotec (talk) 16:06, 5 October 2012 (UTC)

Thank you

FAC license

[edit]

I've addressed the licensing concerns that you outlined here.   — C M B J   23:43, 18 November 2012 (UTC)

You are invited to the third Reading Wiki Meetup which will take place at The Hope Tap, 99-105 Friar Street, Reading RG1 1EP on Sunday 20 January 2013 from 1.00 pm. If you have never been to one, this is an opportunity to meet other Wikipedians in an informal atmosphere for Wiki and non-Wiki related chat and for beer or food if you like. Experienced and new contributors are all welcome. This event is definitely not restricted just to discussion of Berkshire related topics. Bring your laptop if you like and use the free Wifi or just bring yourself. Even better, bring a friend! Click the link for full details. Looking forward to seeing you. Non-U.S images

[edit]

Policy about non-U.S. works is now discussed at policy talk page. --George Ho (talk) 21:04, 28 November 2012 (UTC)

All the files in question have proper licensing; I'm going through to do all the subsidiary, documentation files now. Then I'm going to complain on Commons about all the stuff that made this difficult, in the hope that next time I'll actually not hate trying to donate work. =) Adam Cuerden (talk) 16:15, 29 November 2012 (UTC)

Wuffa

[edit]

Hi Grandiose, thanks for your comments on Talk:Wuffa of East Anglia. I have reverted the drastic alterations and added a polite comment on the talk page, expressing the indignant views of a puzzled editor! Please comment if you think my approach was incorrect. Hel-hama (talk) 22:12, 6 December 2012 (UTC)

Dbachmann has now given the article a couple of templates ('clean-up the whole article' and 'off-topic'). I'll oppose the proposed merger and open an discussion with him a la BRD, referring to your comments, which I agree with you about. Then I'll enjoy the weekend, as the Anna of East Anglia article I got to FA is to be Sunday's featured article, which I'm really chuffed about. Hel-hama (talk) 19:15, 7 December 2012 (UTC)

Thanks!

Thanks very much for the nomination! Regards, Peacemaker67 (send... over) 12:32, 17 December 2012 (UTC)

Just wanted to apologise if I came off a bit rude here. When I'm tired, I have a tendency to just state facts, which can probably come off a little confrontational. I do agree that this image would be a bit more obviously high-EV if the article did a better job with the history of the Yeomen Warders; but, eh, it's a start, and - as I understand it - they only wear the costumes in modern days when the Queen is visiting the Tower, which is when the fewest members of the public are allowed in. =) Adam Cuerden (talk) 03:21, 24 December 2012 (UTC)

FPs and the Wikicup

[edit]

Thanks for noting that - I likely would have included some that are currently in the FPC queue had you not.

My deviantArt account is at adamcuerden.deviantart.net. I tend to put things on there just after they're finished, and they come to Wikipedia sometime after that. Now, obviously, I believe in celebrating other people's work as well, but if it's not one of the older things on my dA, then it's highly likely I did significant work on it during the competition. I don't tend to wait around. I do tend to reexamine things before uploading them here, though, so in a rare few cases something on my deviantArt will still have had work applied during the competition.

But then, I suppose this is the problem with all FP stuff. I can only tell you what documentation exists. Adam Cuerden (talk) 21:05, 30 December 2012 (UTC)

One thing of use I can possibly point out about the FP sets - they are just as much work per image as any other FP.

Also, you may want to look into the Tennyson one. I have a FP set planned for January, which involves creating a DYK on Johannes Gehrts, with a set of images by him. I've so far only done one of the approximately dozen images, which will also be highly useful in other articles.

Maybe that's a good way to judge it for large sets: Would they be worthy of FP status on their own? For example, the Tennyson set images are each used in an article on their respective poems (or Tennyson, for the Garden of Sothersby Rectory). As such, they'd be valid FPs on their own. The McPhersonville one is a weaker case for the initial sketch, but you could probably argue it, particularly as the FPC had dispute on which of the two was primary. But in the case of The Hunting of the Snark, two of the images probably could not manage on their own.

Of course, I'm arguing against self-interest here, as my plans include a number of sets that may not have every image as dual-purpose useful, but which will still be a huge amount of work. Adam Cuerden (talk) 21:11, 30 December 2012 (UTC)

Spanish Civil War

[edit]

Hi, sounds like you are really doing some research. If you need help, support, etc. please contact me directly at kevinmurray@sbcglobal.net This article really needs some work from a good writer who understands the subject. I'm limited in my knowledge of the subject matter and some of this is so ambiguous that I've had to guess on the specifics, but that process tends to ferret out the details though. Cheers and Happy New Year.

Oxford Meetup 3

[edit]

Thank you for attending the second Oxford Meetup, and it was a pleasure meeting with you again. We hope to keep this as a regular event, every two months, on the first Sunday of the month (in order not to clash with London [second Sunday] and Reading [third Sunday]). I have created a page about the third Oxford Meetup; please sign up if you think that you are able to attend - if the date or venue are unsuitable, please comment at its discussion page.

Please spread the word to anybody else who you think might be interested. The next UK meetup is Reading, 20 January 2013. --Redrose64 (talk) 19:33, 13 January 2013 (UTC)

Henry VIII of England

[edit]

First of all, I understand why you changed it back. You're absolutely correct; there is a significant difference. However, can you think of a better way of phrasing it than "It was reported in..."? Maybe it's a pet peeve of mine, but in my opinion, that phrase should never be used in an encyclopedia article, because it just adds unnecessary fluff to a sentence, when the majority of the time, it's completely unnecessary. To me, it's a line that should only be used by news anchors and journalists who are telling us the day's events. Since the subject matter of this article is from the 16th century, it just makes it even sillier to use. I don't know of a better way of phrasing it to keep the context that you want to keep. "It's rumored" and "It's been speculated" aren't good, either. Having said that, if you just want to leave it as it is, that's fine too. Thanks. Jauerbackdude?/dude. 05:11, 24 January 2013 (UTC)

Hallo Grandiose, just to let you know the images in Camouflage have been greatly reduced; the Mare drawing has had a note attached. I hope this is now in an acceptable state. Grateful for your time - Chiswick Chap (talk) 14:12, 24 February 2013 (UTC)
