Bio:

[edit]

My name is Hailey Fox and I am currently a senior in high school attending full time Running Start at Everett Community College. This is my first quarter at Everett and I am so excited to get a head start on my schooling that is allowing me to major in Criminal Justice. I have had multiple jobs but currently transferring from full time to part time as a preschool teacher at a local childcare center. I’m not exactly sure what I want my official career to be yet, as I am still in high school and still trying to figure things out, but I’m currently debating between the ideas of becoming a police officer, working in corrections or becoming a part of a homicide investigations team. I have been extremely fascinated in this type of work for years now and have been wanting to do this type of work for a living. I am planning on furthering my education in this topic so I can go on and enter the field of Criminal Justice soon. Besides school, I love to take naps and go to Everett Silvertips Hockey games. When it comes to extracurricular activities I don’t do much, I like to read nonfiction books and binge watch Netflix series. I’m a pretty basic individual just living her life day by day!

I have always been interested in criminal information (as weird as that may sound) but all in all, that is what I am going to school for. Any time of investigation article that I can get my hands on, I read. I have always found major interest in writing argumentative papers on big trials such as the O.J Simpson case. I’m looking forward to learning about Wikipedia this year and I hope that I can turn all of this knowledge around and put it into articles that I truly find interesting.

Article Review:

[edit]

I have been very interested in the information found behind serial killers and murder scenes for quite some time now. I have always found it so interesting how one individual can do such an inhuman act. Gary Ridgway is a very well-known serial killer. I visited the Gary Ridgway page on Wikipedia, and found three aspects of it worth commenting on: its lack of citations, age of documentation/references, as well as indications of poor grammar.

Citations:

[edit]

With such a strong and interesting topic, there should definitely be a lot more citations. So many of the citations that are given hold very valuable and true evidence supporting the topic. There are many citations found at the bottom of this particular Wikipedia page. Due to the incidents of Gary Ridgway being so old, the citations for this article won’t always be the newest and greatest. There are many citations throughout the article but I found very little to be in the opening introduction paragraphs. I believe that when trying to grab someone’s attention and introducing someone, there should be citations proving the facts that are being stated. The first few paragraphs of this article give a clear background of who this man was and what he did throughout his life, but gives little to no proof at all.

Age:

[edit]

Gary Ridgway’s notorious murder spree fell between the years of 1982 and 1998. With it currently being 2018 and him being held captive in prison, there aren’t going to be the newest facts and documents to add to this article. With this being the case, that gives more pressure to the older documents and records to be held to a much higher standard due to there being no newly released information. As far as the age of the documentations given, the age gap doesn’t seem to be too vast.

Grammar:

[edit]

The individuals who have come together to form this article, overall has great grammar. Punctuation in correct spots, thorough transitions and valid information with correct word placement made this article overall very simple to read and comprehend.

Summary:

[edit]

Overall I would rate this article pretty well published. With the committed events of Ridgway being so far in the past and little to no new information, it would make it more difficult to release new citations and new information. Grammar proved to be well fitted for this specific article. I wouldn’t change much to this article due to how well it was out together.
