Axel Technologies is a Finnish mobile TV software development company. The company was established in 2003 [1] but the core team has been working together since 2000. Axel Technologies focuses on multistandard, multiplatform mobile TV software development for device manufacturers and semiconductor suppliers. Axel Technologies headquarter [2] is located in Turku, Finland and the company has sales offices in Hong Kong, Taipei and Santa Clara, USA.

Axel Technologies' multistandard-multiplatform TV/Video software solutions support DVB-T, DVB-H, DVB-SH, CMMB, ATSC-M/H and ISDB-T / SBTVD-T one-seg mobile TV standards. Solutions are developed for laptops, netbooks, MIDs, smartphones, and navigation devices.

Fuugo

In 2010 Axel Technologies launched Fuugo [3]  which is part of the new Telefusion [4] concept driven by the Finnish vendor. Fuugo is the first TV application in the world personalsing a content stream by blending content choices from broadcast, mobile and Internet TV. Fuugi utilises social media, recommendations, user metrics and various content sources for presentation of TV and video programs to match end-users and their social networks interests and favourites.

  • 2008 Axel had its first Venture Capital round [6] with Nexit Ventures
  • 2008 Axel sets up a support office in Hong Kong, China
  • 2009 Axel secured 2.4M€ financing [7] from Nexit Ventures and Finnish Industry Investment
  • 2009 Axel sets up an office in Taipei, Taiwan
  • 2010 Axel introduces Telefusion concept [8] and Fuugo at Mobile World Congress in Barcelona
  • 2010 Android and ATSC-M/H capabilities added to Fuugo[9] and introduced to the US audience at NAB in Las Vegas
