Background

[edit]

In 2014 the National Library of Wales began advertising for volunteers to work on various projects and a volunteer co-ordinator was appointed. The project proved so successful that there is now a waiting list to Volunteer at the Library. One of the key goals of the Volunteer project is to offer people the opportunity to improve computer literacy, so from the outset I was keen to get volunteers involved in Wikipedia projects. Since January a total of 19 members of the Volunteer team have worked on Wikipedia projects. Notice of every Edit-a-thon event held by the NLW is sent to the volunteer mailing list and a number of volunteers have attended these events with most have attended more than once.
