Latiq Agard, native of Long Island City, Queens in New York, was born August 2, 1989 to Baronica Moses and Stanley Agard. Having a passion for basketball, Latiq started his career his high school catholic institution, Christ the King. Latiq was one of the star players of his team alongside, University of Florida graduate Ervin Walker, George Mason's graduate Ryan Pearson, and St John's graduate Malik Boothe, a perennial league champion in NYC's C.H.S.A.A League.

Latiq grew up in one of the most diverse and crime plagued neighborhoods of New York City. This didn't stop him from having a vision. Latiq aimed for the bigger picture, being apart of a Division I team and the NBA. That dream was his motivation. In order to do that Latiq studied both basketball and academics both day and night. He never wanted to be the statistic or a product,so Agard worked hard to become a role model to his peers creating a very positive and influential halo associated with his name.

Standing an amazing 6'4, the combo player was in demand with recruiters, as he conquered not only high school but the community as well. As a result, Latiq choose the path of Junior College as an opportunity to develop personally, academically and athletically. finally realizing his dream with the signing of a national letter of intent to play for Jacksonville State. A moment that is the pride for not only himself but ano entirely supportive family structure whom always prioritized education and maturation.

High School and College

After leaving to attend The Patterson School (N.C.) which lead to a postgraduate year at New Creation in Indiana and ultimately landing at Seward County where he impressed fans and Div. 1 coaches alike earning All-Jayhawk Conference honors while averaging 16 points and 5 rebounds. The opportunity to join former teammate Leke Lewu made the decision to attend JSU over offers from outstanding schools such as St Bonaventure, Southern Methodist, and South Dakota to name a few.

The personification of discipline and ambition Latiq Agard today is the namesake of the Latiq Agard Foundation, while pursuing professional basketball opportunities abroad. The Agard Foundation seeks to enhance the overall development of inner city bred young men through ano emphasis on education, sports, and community service therefore uplifting their communities, and serving as models for their peers and the overall objective of societal improvement. By teaching young men the importance of balance between personal, athletic, and educational goals participants will be guided in their pursuits, all be it sports or otherwise.

The Latiq Agard Foundation sponsors student athletes residing in the five boroughs of New York City.
