Career

[edit]

Jazan Wild is an American comic book author and musician who is best known for his series Carnival Of Souls and Funhouse Of Horrors.

Jazan Wild's first comic book, Carnival Of Souls was published in 2005 by London based comic book company Markosia Enterprises[1]. The first print was a half size special collectors edition that was printed for the July 2005 San Diego Comic Con. A regular sized version was released for Halloween that same year, along with a CD soundtrack that correlated with the comic book series. Wild's CD, was also named Carnival Of Souls and was released at the same time as the first comic book. The CD was produced by Grammy Award Winning Producer, Bob Kulick, and Grammy Nominated songwriter, Curt Cuomo.

Stefan Petrucha[2] , writer for the X-Files comic books, scripted the Carnival of Souls series, along with Wild. Wild has written and performed songs for some of Stefan's novels. Inker Kevin Conrad[3], who had worked on Kiss' Psycho Circus, Todd McFarlane's Spawn Dark Ages, Marvel's Hulk and DC Comic's Teen Titans series among others, made his penciling debut on the project. The Carnival Of Souls series contained three issues. The second issue, Everyone Loves A Clown, was released in December 2005. All Hell's Breaking Loose, the third and final issue in the series was released in May of 2006. Although a review on Broken Frontier's[4], website states, "JWCOS has recently announced to have been signed to publish well past the initial three-issue arc; it will now run for 13 issues before it is complete."

However, Wild left Markosia after the third Carnival Of Souls book was released. According to an interview conducted by Review Busters,[5] Wild went on to work with Gene Simmons on a Twilight Zone / Horror comic book series. The project evolved into Wild's Funhouse Of Horrors series. It was the debut comic of Wild's own company, Carnival Comics. Broken Frontier[6] announced that the Funhouse book would be a free give away via download Halloween 2006. Carnival Comics' later released the printed version of Funhouse Of Horrors book through Diamond Distributors on Halloween 2008. The second Funhouse Of Horrors book titled, It's Murphy's Law[7], was released on Halloween of 2009 via iPhone, Android, Nokia and Amazon. The third book in the series titled, It's A Madhouse (Out There)[8], was released via iPhone, Android, Nokia and Amazon on Halloween of 2010.

In 2009, Wild and world reknown composer, Jonathan Elias[9] co-created Atomic Dreams: The Lost Journal Of J. Robert Oppenheimer, a graphic novel. Atomic Dreams became the first comic book app on Nokia phones, launched on July 4, 2009.

Carnival Comics, a company in which Wild is the CEO, was named a Nokia 2009 Success Story.[10] Carnival Comics and Wild's titles were the first comic books on both Nokia and Blackberry. In an interview conducted by Wired magazine[11] Wild states that Funhouse Of Horrors in the smartphone app version had been downloaded a quarter of a million times, in over 181 countries. The LA Times[12] featured Carnival Comics and its Carnival Of Souls and Funhouse Of Horrors series for being the first comics to launch on Blackberry. Entertainment Weekly[13] named the Carnival Comics apps on its 2009 Halloween Must List.
