Roger Leon (born c. 1967[1]) is an American educator and administrator who currently serves as the superintendent of Newark Public Schools in Newark, New Jersey[2].

Early Life

Roger Leon grew up in The Ironbound where he attended Hawkins Street School and Science Park High School (New Jersey)[3]. In high school he excelled on the debate team[4], later serving as a coach for the team[5]. He received a Bachelor's in biological sciences from Rutgers University[6]. He followed the alternate route to his teaching certification[7].

Career

Leon had many positions in the schools including principal of Dr. William H. Horton School and University High School[2]. Afterwards he was an Assistant Superintendent for 10 years[2][7].
