WP:URFA/2020 is an initiative to review and improve featured articles that were promoted before 2016. The systematic bias towards biographies of men and their accomplishments extends to featured articles. It is our hope that featured articles can keep their status during this review, and that WiR can help keep articles concerning women as featured articles.

Instructions

[edit]

This page lists featured articles promoted before 2015 within the purview of Wikipedia:WikiProject Women. Please review any articles that interest you and improve it so that it meets the featured article criteria. Some common ways to improve an article are:

  • Search for more sources, especially for new books or academic journals that were printed since it's FA promotion.
  • Check to ensure everything is cited: add citations to sentences that need it, or remove the information if it cannot be verified.
  • Removing bloating by summarising large sections, removing or reducing WP:NOTNEWS information, and ensuring that new information is verified.
  • Edit the article for spelling and grammatical mistakes.

Once you have finished fixing up the article, please post a note in WT:URFA/2020 and an experienced reviewer will offer suggestions on how to continue improvements. If you are an experienced FA writer or reviewer (an editor who has successfully nominated at least one FA) you may mark the article as "Satisfactory" at WP:URFA/2020A (for FAs promoted from 2004-2009) or WP:URFA/2020B (for FAs promoted from 2010-2015).

If a featured article is very far from meeting the featured article criteria, please post your concerns on the article's talk page and list it at WP:FARGIVEN. If the concerns are not addressed after 2 weeks, you may list it at WP:FAR by following the instructions at the top of the FAR page.
