Archiving

Hello. Regarding this edit, would you clarify whether the sections should be moved to older archives instead, as opposed the newest one? They were much older posts which the signatures and timestamps were missing. And by the way does the bot order the archive talk sections according to the date of the first post or that of the very last post of a talk section? 124.217.188.105 (talk) 09:34, 28 April 2022 (UTC)

The age of the thread has no bearing on the archive that is used. The bot selects the archive using the parameters of the {{User:MiszaBot/config}} at the top of the page; specifically, it uses the archive given by the value of |archive= where %(counter)d is replaced with the value from |counter=. In this case, we have
{{User:MiszaBot/config
|archiveheader = {{Automatic archive navigator}}
|maxarchivesize = 100K
|counter = 6
|minthreadsleft = 5
|minthreadstoarchive = 2
|algo = old(90d)
|archive = Talk:List of tallest buildings/Archive %(counter)d
}}
so the thread is archived to Talk:List of tallest buildings/Archive 6. Threads that are archived are added to the bottom of the archive, but where more than one thread is archived simultaneously, they are sorted by the date of the most recent timestamp in the thread (which might not be the physically-last one in the section), see this edit. --Redrose64 🌹 (talk) 21:18, 28 April 2022 (UTC)
I see. Thanks. By "the very last post" I mean the most recent one rather than the physically bottomest one. 124.217.188.46 (talk) 17:00, 30 April 2022 (UTC)

Order of archives listed in the edit summary

This is a really minor issue which does not require action, but still, I'm curious: what accounts for the order of the archives listed in this edit summary:

Archiving 226 discussion(s) to User talk:MWD115/Archive 2, User talk:MWD115/Archive 3, User talk:MWD115/Archive 1

See rev. 1085234023. Thanks, (please Reply to icon mention me on reply; thanks!) Mathglot (talk) 04:27, 3 May 2022 (UTC)

Help archiving a talk page?

Hello, I understand you run Lowercase sigmabot III. I've been working to improve the article about Robert Rubin and the talk page has grown very long, stretching back to 2010. Do you agree it's a good candidate for archiving, and if so, is there a specific wikiproject where I could propose an archive request? Thanks, WWB Too (Talk · COI) 20:51, 16 May 2022 (UTC)

(talk page watcher) @WWB Too: I don't think that you need to involve a WikiProject, there are clearly more than thirty threads going back sixteen years. I've set it up to archive anything with more than one year of inactivity. Before doing this, I ensured that all threads were timestamped at the least. --Redrose64 🌹 (talk) 16:17, 17 May 2022 (UTC)
Thanks, Redrose64, I really appreciate it! Best, WWB Too (Talk · COI) 11:20, 19 May 2022 (UTC)
