Piping

[edit]

Hello! I agree with you on the piping subject, I thought the WP:COMMONNAME for European clubs include the FCs or SCs but after a quick research, I see the piped names are also used in many Featured and Good articles.

Thank you for your time to reply even as an IP, and keep up with the good work! Horcoff (talk) 13:44, 24 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]

It's ok, no harm done my friend. I admit I overreacted too when I said those things to you. I just want to tell you that even do sometimes I more about a player's stats on the page it's because except for the great players and the current ones you can't find much interesting info about their careers that's worth putting on wikipedia. When I find interesting quotes or anecdotes I put them.(See:Nicolae Dobrin, Mircea Dridea or Rică Răducanu) I try to edit pages of footballers who are less known and played a long time ago and like I said, usually it's hard to find interesting information so it does look a bit like I am writing in "anglish"(See:Cornel Popa), but I think it's better than the page to be forever at a stub level. Also about the overlinking, I started to do that because I noticed than when would read a page on wikipedia and a name was often mentioned and I knew there was a link on the page somewhere to it, I would be a bit annoying to look for the link. But still I guess I do that too much.

Decline reason:

This IP address is not blocked. Once you disable your proxy/vpn, you need to wait a full 24 hours for the block to clear. Yamla (talk) 12:37, 29 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]

If you want to make any further unblock requests, please read the guide to appealing blocks first, then use the {{unblock}} template again. If you make too many unconvincing or disruptive unblock requests, you may be prevented from editing this page until your block has expired. Do not remove this unblock review while you are blocked.

@Drmies: Can you please have a look at this? Appreciate it; i tried to follow the instructions found in step #1 below "Notes" (i think i qualify, no blocks found in list of active blocks whatsoever) but i'm at a loss... --193.137.135.5 (talk) 12:35, 29 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]
@Yamla: Clearly have no idea what happened, but thank you very much for the technical input. I know it may have been an accident (or some changes in the servers at my work, beats me), but i feel a bit akward receiving the "same treatment" of a common vandal after 16 years of hard work and fighting the aforementioned with all my wikimight. No worries, i'll wait for this to expire if it does not get fixed (i do not know how), or edit at home (if that address has not been blocked as well!).

Attentively, thanks for the interaction again. --193.137.135.5 (talk) 13:18, 29 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]

I don't know what's going on; I'm going to have to rely on what Yamla said. Sorry, gotta go--need to get ready for the match. ;) Drmies (talk) 14:45, 29 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]
@Drmies: and :@Yamla:, i think i've done it (disable the proxy/vpn), now i patiently wait for the 24 hours to pass. Fortunately, i'm able to contribute from home!

Attentively, continue the good work --193.137.135.5 (talk) 12:23, 30 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Work vs publisher

Hi. [1] Why do you think for Reuters |publisher is better than |work? Robby.is.on (talk) 15:45, 20 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]

March 2023

[edit]

Information icon Please do not use styles that are nonstandard, unusual, inappropriate or difficult to understand in articles, as you did in Ricardo Quaresma. There is a Manual of Style, and edits should not deliberately go against it without special reason. Per MOS:CAPTION.

Hi, I have deleted your edit on Ricardo Quaresma because it is improper and incorrect; according to the rule ("MOS:CAPTIONS") of the style manual, in complete sentences (and "Quaresma performs a bicycle kick against the France at Euro 2016" is a complete sentence), it is compulsory to insert the full stop at the end of the sentence.

IP 154.180.152.3

[edit]

I didn't realise: I put some welcome template message on User talk:154.180.152.3 then on Rafinha (footballer, born February 1993) with your latest edit, you claim HazemGM is that person. Iggy (Swan) (Contribs) 15:23, 10 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Jorge Silva (footballer, born 1996)

[edit]

Is there a primary source for that December 2014 match report from Sporting CP official website to confirm the lineup? Newspapers could also make a mistake, it is unlikely that Soccerway, Worldfootball and Transfermarkt would ALL mix up the same two players in the report.
