Warnings

[edit]

November 2009

[edit]

Welcome to Wikipedia. Everyone is welcome to make constructive contributions to Wikipedia, but at least one of your recent edits, such as the one you made to Bob, did not appear to be constructive and has been automatically reverted by ClueBot.

  • Please use the sandbox for any test edits you would like to make, and take a look at the welcome page to learn more about contributing to this encyclopedia. Note that human editors do monitor recent changes to Wikipedia articles, and administrators have the ability to block users from editing if they repeatedly engage in vandalism.
  • Cluebot produces very few false positives, but it does happen. If you believe the change you made should not have been detected as unconstructive, please report it here, remove this warning from your talk page, and then make the edit again.
  • The following is the log entry regarding this warning: Bob was changed by 34002salisbury (u) (t) making a minor change adding "!!!" on 2009-11-10T12:17:56+00:00 . Thank you. ClueBot (talk) 12:18, 10 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Blocked

[edit]
You have been blocked indefinitely from editing because your account is being used only for vandalism. If you think there are good reasons why you should be unblocked, you may appeal this block by adding the text {{unblock|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}}, but you should read the guide to appealing blocks first.

Judging from the nonsensical nature of the edits coming from this account today, I suspect that it may have become compromised. Nick-D (talk) 11:39, 28 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]

This user's unblock request has been reviewed by an administrator, who declined the request. Other administrators may also review this block, but should not override the decision without good reason (see the blocking policy).

Request reason:

logged in for the first time in many years and for some reason I was blocked due to a compromised account? I was only going to edit some UK railway related pages.

Decline reason:

You say (below) that 13 edits were made from this account and you did not make them. That means that this account is compromised, and it cannot be unblocked (see: WP:COMPROMISED). Vanjagenije (talk) 11:42, 3 August 2016 (UTC)[reply]

If you want to make any further unblock requests, please read the guide to appealing blocks first, then use the {{unblock}} template again. If you make too many unconvincing or disruptive unblock requests, you may be prevented from editing this page until your block has expired. Do not remove this unblock review while you are blocked.

On 28 June 2012 this account made 13 edits in the space of 14 minutes. Are you the person who made those edits? A straight yes or no, please.--Anthony Bradbury"talk" 13:03, 2 August 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Probably not, it was over 4 years ago and I was 15 at the time.

This user's unblock request has been reviewed by an administrator, who accepted the request.

Request reason:

after editing some details in the Rolling Stock of the Watercress Line page I noticed I needed to be logged in to upload photographs and discovered it has been blocked from making edits. Seeing the reason that the account may have been compromised I have change my password (prompted by wiki itself). In addition I expect the vandilsm edits were a young teenage me mucking around and won't happen again (i'm now 24!). Purely the main reason I would like to be unblocked would be to keep the rolling stock page up to date as I volunteer at the Watercress Line.

Accept reason:

Per the discussion below - it appears that the original editor is now in charge of this account and has secured it, and the risk is very low. Nick-D (talk) 23:18, 3 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Nick-D, this seems like a fairly low-risk unblock to me, and honestly I can't see much of a reason for someone to have compromised this account and be trying to reactivate it most of a decade later. I'm willing to unblock, any objections? GeneralNotability (talk) 14:39, 3 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]
I wonder if it would be better to allow account creation instead so they can create a new account and start fresh, but you're probably right that it's low risk. 331dot (talk) 16:02, 3 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]
WP:COMPROMISED allows admins to unblock compromised accounts if they're comfortable that this risk has been addressed. I agree that this seems very low risk, and have unblocked. @GeneralNotability: many thanks for the ping and @331dot: many thanks for your advice as well. 34002salisbury, best wishes for your future editing.
