Potential conflict of interest

[edit]

Hi, welcome to Wikipedia! I noticed that you recently made edits to Stella O'Malley. While it may be coincidental, your username, A Wider Lens, is the name of a podcast run by Stella O'Malley. If you are Ms. O'Malley, please be aware that editing articles about yourself or people/organizations you are connected to may represent a conflict of interest. Thank you and happy editing! 2603:6000:B240:1B0:528:532A:6CB8:E1C7 (talk) 19:37, 24 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]

I am a huge fan of that podcast, hence the name. Not Stella herself, she is busy enough with more important stuff than editing wikipedia, i'd say, hahaha! A Wider Lens (talk) 10:21, 26 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I see you are the same IP that erased relevant info on the Skoptic Syndrome page, trying to hide it's connection to Eunuch and WPATH and fetish/gender identity disorder. This looks like no coincidence in relation to your question above. Apparantly you are aware of Stella's concerns about the eunuch gender identity inclusion in WPATH's SOC-8. For other readers: WPATH Files was released and caused a stir about that org and SOC-8. Particularly the Eunuch chapter is controversial and it's connection to the Eunuch Archive, which is a fetish site focused on Skoptic syndrome/Eunuchism. This site features about 4000 pages tagged with stories about castration with minors involved. Please be aware of contributors that are trying to protect/hide the dark side of Eunuchism. Interesting for other wikipedians: https://bsky.app/profile/jessdkant.bsky.social/post/3koh3cyq7ca2t I am not Stella. A Wider Lens (talk) 10:39, 27 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Introduction to contentious topics

[edit]

You have recently edited a page related to gender-related disputes or controversies or people associated with them, a topic designated as contentious. This is a brief introduction to contentious topics and does not imply that there are any issues with your editing.

A special set of rules applies to certain topic areas, which are referred to as contentious topics. These are specially designated topics that tend to attract more persistent disruptive editing than the rest of the project and have been designated as contentious topics by the Arbitration Committee. When editing a contentious topic, Wikipedia’s norms and policies are more strictly enforced, and Wikipedia administrators have special powers in order to reduce disruption to the project.

Within contentious topics, editors should edit carefully and constructively, refrain from disrupting the encyclopedia, and:

  • adhere to the purposes of Wikipedia;
  • comply with all applicable policies and guidelines;
  • follow editorial and behavioural best practice;
  • comply with any page restrictions in force within the area of conflict; and
  • refrain from gaming the system.

Editors are advised to err on the side of caution if unsure whether making a particular edit is consistent with these expectations. If you have any questions about contentious topics procedures you may ask them at the arbitration clerks' noticeboard or you may learn more about this contentious topic here. You may also choose to note which contentious topics you know about by using the {{Ctopics/aware}} template.
