Thanks for vandalfighting

Thanks for vandalfighting. You did a lot of quick cleanup after Jennygrl34. —ERcheck @ 01:50, 16 May 2006 (UTC)

hehe... she did enough to give us all a bit of a race... luckily I think she's gone now... I'll be keeping an eye on her... - Adolphus79 01:52, 16 May 2006 (UTC)

Hi, about your comments at WP:AIV - you can start someone with a test3 or test4 for egregious vandalism. It's a matter of style. Sometimes you'll be surprised though when a simple test or welcome stops someone. Most of the infantile type vandalism I start off slow, and generally if there is massive obscenity/racism/etc. I'll go straight to test4. HTH, Kaisershatner 12:26, 16 May 2006 (UTC)

ok, thanks... I'll keep that in mind... - Adolphus79 12:28, 16 May 2006 (UTC)

Subst

When using template tags on talk pages, don't forget to substitute with text by adding subst: to the template tag. For example, use {{subst:test}} instead of {{test}}. This reduces server load and prevents accidental blanking of the template. --Cyde Weys 02:50, 17 May 2006 (UTC)

I removed User:64.80.215.58 from WP:AIV, he's already blocked for 24 hours. Users can still edit their own user talk page whilst blocked :) --james °o 09:35, 18 May 2006 (UTC)

I know this, but he/she/it was removing the warnings and was vandalizing it's own talk page, the page is protected now... - Adolphus79 09:37, 18 May 2006 (UTC)

Kern River

Heya! Do you have a particular regional interest in the Kern River area? --jpgordon∇∆∇∆ 06:01, 20 May 2006 (UTC)

I currently live in Bakersfield, just adding information learned from local knowledge... - Adolphus79 06:02, 20 May 2006 (UTC)
Ah! Well, hello downstream -- I'm a part-time resident of Kernville. (That picture I added to the Kern River page is from the back yard of my new house there.) --jpgordon∇∆∇∆ 06:07, 20 May 2006 (UTC)
Well, I won't be here for long, I actually just sold my house here... but nice to meet you, and glad you are above Lake Isabella instead of below it like Bakersfield... - Adolphus79 06:11, 20 May 2006 (UTC)

Anyone

Anyone should be able to see that Volleyballgirl2012 is a vandal. She vandalized Kh1fiend's user page. I actully saw her do more than just that-Forest

she signed his guest book, then left each of you a comment, and it appears that the 3 of you know each other... you then gave her a 3rd teir warning after she blanked her own page... listing her on the vandalsim page was very extreme, as the only edit she had made that could be considered vandalism was the comment left on your talk page... there are standards for the process of listing a vandal on the vandalism report page... please remember to assume good faith, and happy editing... - Adolphus79 00:01, 24 May 2006 (UTC)

My user page.

Thanks. JoshuaZ 00:32, 24 May 2006 (UTC)

no prob... wish I could block them myself... oh well, one day... - Adolphus79 05:10, 28 May 2006 (UTC)

hi adolphus79
I've started an article about the Zoetrope All-Story. Apparently, you have marked it as a stub. What do I have to add or change to it, it should become a regular entry?
Thanks in advance
lespaul (talk · contribs)

adding a stub is nothing bad, it just allows more (and more experienced) editors to see your article. It will help your article grow and mature... a very good article so far, and as I look at it again, I think you could probably remove the {{wikify}} tag... - Adolphus79 11:42, 28 May 2006 (UTC)
Thanks a lot. I hope to write more soon.lespaul (talk · contribs)
no problem... good luck and happy editing... let me know if you need any help... - Adolphus79 11:58, 28 May 2006 (UTC)

Please take some action

I have notice that you have deal with IP address 85.214.59.14 in the past. The User has abuse many prophets, In the wikipedia talk page see [1]. Please take some action. He has no right to do that. Where should I post the violation or you will take action yourself. Please reply me. Best wishes --- Faisal 16:07, 28 May 2006 (UTC)

you can revert the changes yourself by checking the history of the page, and if he/she/it continues to vandalize, you can report it to the admins at Wikipedia:Administrator intervention against vandalism... I'm not an admin myself, so there is nothing more that I can do... - Adolphus79 16:12, 28 May 2006 (UTC)

Apia

Hi, you have said the article I wrote about the 1889 Apia typhoon is POV, and I guess it could be seen that way, but I am curious. Since the sources I list at the bottom both use the word "catastrophe", and report that the ships were in the harbour to promote opposing colonial interests, if I gave an inline citation would that remove the POV issure from these facts?--Jackyd101 15:05, 30 May 2006 (UTC)

Just because your sources are biased, does not mean your encyclopedic entry needs to be... maybe change the lines to reads as "America and Germany had ships in the harbor", and calling it simply a 'disaster' instead of a 'catastrophe'... it may have truly been a catastrophe for the local natives and population, but on a global scale, was it really that bad? The NPOV tag was not intended to insult you or your article... just as a hint to step back from the information, and think about it from the other side, or on a global scale... like I said on the article's talk page, a well written article otherwise... if you check out WP:NPOV, it might help you understand what I mean... good luck, and happy editing... - Adolphus79 16:50, 30 May 2006 (UTC)

Merging and redirecting

I just noticed that you merged a couple of articles with List of neologisms on The Simpsons and then tagged the old article titles for deletion. Rather than deleting them, it's preferable to simply change them into redirects. There are two main reasons for this; GFDL compliance (the edit history of the merged material gets "left behind" at the old title) and convenience for people performing searches for or linking to the content. Redirects should normally only need to be deleted if they're blatantly inappropriate or useless. Bryan 03:32, 31 May 2006 (UTC)

ok, I'll keep that in mind in the future... thanks... - Adolphus79 03:33, 31 May 2006 (UTC)

About the LGBT characters page

Adolphus I'm really not sure what to decide on with this page's deletion. I think its a big waste of info, but at the same time as I said in the voting booth...every character gets some slight hint. Very few characters are strongly actually implied to be flat out gay...maybe not enough to warrent a page. But the convtoversy as well as pointing out the fact that there's a lot of satire over the subject of homosexuality on the Simpsons is I think worthy of some sort of attention.

The way its looking right now its probably going to be deleted regardless of what we do. But maybe something we can try is to make a "pop-culture impact" or just "pop-culture relevance" page in general to put information such as this into nicely organized foot notes. Things like the general satire thats seen on the show, including a foot note on LGBT. That would kill a lot of birds with one stone. What do you think? The show has had a lot of impact on pop culture with its various satire...I think its worthy of at least foot note.--Kiyosuki 02:14, 1 June 2006 (UTC)

what I was thinking was that if the list does get deleted, one user recommended a LGBT category, I think we'll probably just make that for the characters that have their own articles... - Adolphus79 02:22, 1 June 2006 (UTC)

Groundskeeper Willy

There is a quote in there about him talking about the animosity that Scots have against many different people, do you know what episode that is taken from? Jlaforteza 06:27, 2 June 2006 (UTC)

I remember the quote, but do not know the episode, I'm sorry... you might try to find it on Wikiquote:The Simpsons... - Adolphus79 06:30, 2 June 2006 (UTC)

Thanks man

Thanks man, you are a diamond among coals. Most people on the internet fight forever. I really deeply appreciate it. If you wish to contribute to any of my articles, I welcome your contributions. Thanks man.Travb (talk) 07:06, 2 June 2006 (UTC)

fighting online is like racing in the Special Olympics... even if you win, yer still a retard... ;) - Adolphus79 07:13, 2 June 2006 (UTC)
LOL. That is hilarious. Best wishes. I am sincere about my diamond compliment.Travb (talk) 18:38, 2 June 2006 (UTC)

Peter Birrel

You added a tag to say that the entry for Peter Birrel needs to be Wikified. Would you care to say how? It looks like it fits the style guide to me. There isn't much there because the data was interleaved with the data for Pete Birrell and I didn't want this data to be lost. SteveCrook 11:12, 3 June 2006 (UTC)

I think you need to expand it, 3 lines isn't much... where is the notability? why does this man (either of them, really) deserve an article on Wikipedia? - Adolphus79 11:29, 3 June 2006 (UTC)
I was just cleaning up the mess of having their data all mixed up together. I think they're both more worthy of a lot of other people that have entries. I mean, what's this bloke ever done that's worthwhile? :) If you want to nominate them for deletion, go for it. SteveCrook 11:36, 3 June 2006 (UTC)
LOL, don't get me started on my fearless leader... I'm American, and I can guarantee that none of us like him any better than anyone on your side of the pond does... ;) Either way, at least he is the president (not my fault!)... according to your article though, Peter Birrel seems to have just been an extra in one episode of a TV show... there just isn't enough content to prove notability... - Adolphus79 11:45, 3 June 2006 (UTC)

Ridiculous and patronising

You have insulted my by slapping a wikify notice on Gary Emerson. I have started hundreds of articles and I have never suffered such an affront before. Indeed, I am the person who has set the presentational standards for golf articles in Wikipedia. This action was groundless and hurtful. Osomec 23:21, 3 June 2006 (UTC)

tags are not designed to be insulting... they are simply a helpful hint... if you wikify your article (looking again, there are a few minor fixes needed), the tag will go away... also, the stub was added to help your article grow... please remember, assume good faith, I was not trying to insult you or your article, just trying to give a 'helpful push'... just because you have started hundreds of articles does not mean they are all fully (and properly) wikified on their first edit... I'm not even going to bother checking that article again, seeing how flustered you got over a simple wikify tag and a stub... calm down, and remember, we're all here to help each other... have fun, and happy editing... - Adolphus79 23:30, 3 June 2006 (UTC)

Ridiculous but not patronising

You're assertion that I had not shown the importance of DJ Kayper is somewhat peculiar as I did put links to the biographes about her on the BBC Asian Network about the programme she presents on that, she is after all a current presenter of a National Radio Station on the BBC as well as having won an annual award from the Daily Telegraph which is after all a leading national UK newspaper - I could mention on the article that the BBC is one of the largest media organisations in the world and in fact the BBC Asian Network is listened to online around the world as well as in the UK on DAB, but that would seem rather to be stating what the BBC page says anyway, of what importance the page List of fictional people who lived more than once is rather beyond me, I'm sure a list of fictional people who had 2 heads, or a list of Fictional People who had had Grand Piano's dropped on their heads would be no more or less important, and in fact would have remembered to add the Radio Stub, which had just slipped my mind --Lord of the Isles 00:52, 4 June 2006 (UTC)

If you will notice, I removed the nn-bio tag, because the notabiliy was shown... I will still recommend that the article be expanded though... and IMHO, simple lists are just plain fun, while still being semi-encyclopedic, I'd love to take a look at List of fictional people with more than one head... LOL, maybe I'll go work on that right now... have fun, and happy editing... - Adolphus79 01:02, 4 June 2006 (UTC)

>>>>I will still recommend that the article be expanded though<<<< - That is what the stubs are for though, to note that the article could do with expanding --Lord of the Isles 01:06, 4 June 2006 (UTC)

Ha ha. The header even freaked me out for a second... I'll prod it... Cheers -- Samir धर्म 07:18, 4 June 2006 (UTC)

wewt... I get the long header too... LOL - Adolphus79 07:19, 4 June 2006 (UTC)

Thank You

Hi there,

Im new to Wiki and just wanted to say thankyou for cleaning up my first article and the links. :)

/Stephen

no problem... let me know if you need any help with anything... remember to sign your posts on talk pages with 4 tildes (~~~~) so that we know who you are... good luck, and happy editing... - Adolphus79 08:22, 4 June 2006 (UTC)

Hi Adolphus 79 - can you give me an idea why you put 'stub' on the Mystics article? It pretty much covers them and I have seen much shorter entries that are not marked stub. Any other input appreciated as well.

Thanks Annabells

stubs are nothing bad, all it really mean is that your article could use some expanding... it will help other editors find your article, and possibly add to it... as far as shorter articles than yours, yes, those are stubs also, maybe just not tagged yet... you have a very good start to an article there, it just needs a little cleanup, and some formatting... have fun, and happy editing... - Adolphus79 21:27, 4 June 2006 (UTC)

spam, spam, lovely spam...

I don't want to disturb nobody. I have a lyrics site and dmoz editors have their own. And I just want a quality link. i don't think anybody will search this keywords. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Contact@music-free-download.net (talkcontribs)

and yet you continue to add your spam links... I don't believe the innocence... add your link to search engines, etc... not our encyclopedia... - Adolphus79 17:39, 6 June 2006 (UTC)

the beast

No worries, but the blanking itself was an accident; the edit before mine was a link repair in the first paragraph that accidentally blanked most of the rest of the article. I don't know how they managed to blank most of the article by fixing two links in the intro, but somehow it happened. -GTBacchus(talk) 06:08, 7 June 2006 (UTC)

Hey - shouldn't this article just redirect to Ken Done? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Bdude (talkcontribs)

If it's the same person, certainly... but either way, the article Ken done is a direct copyright violation of the website posted... - Adolphus79 07:54, 7 June 2006 (UTC)

Thanks for your input. I would say that the head of a leading venture capital firm with $1.5B in assets is quite notable. If you could remove your tag, I'd appreciate it. BrassRat 09:58, 7 June 2006 (UTC)

Thanks! BrassRat 10:01, 7 June 2006 (UTC)
I removed the tag, but I am still not sure how notable he is just for being a manager... if he owned the company, or started it, I would understand... but that's just my POV... if you could expand the article some to explain his notability, please... - Adolphus79 10:03, 7 June 2006 (UTC)
The title of managing partner or managing director at a venture capital firm (or a consulting firm like McKinsey & Company) means roughly the same thing as CEO does in a non-partnership-based organization. BrassRat 10:11, 7 June 2006 (UTC)
very well... have fun, and happy editing... - Adolphus79 10:13, 7 June 2006 (UTC)

Phinius gage

Hi. Think you're probably right that they're not notable. I'm not the one expanding the article though... Mistaken identity? Dweller 11:26, 7 June 2006 (UTC)

oh, that wasn't aimed at you, MattSteele01 (talk · contribs) is the one that has pretty much written the whole article... but now that he has expanded the article, their notability is starting to show... they are going to tour across Europe soon, and have a video on TV... I think now that he has expanded the article, I have run out of complaints... LOL - Adolphus79 11:30, 7 June 2006 (UTC)
Dunno why I'm sticking up for him (!) but in his defence, the tag does (did?) say "You may remove this message if you improve the article" Dweller 11:48, 7 June 2006 (UTC)
true... I think I will remove it... LOL but I still wonder aabout the discrepencies between this article and what's listed on their myspace page... - Adolphus79 11:51, 7 June 2006 (UTC)

Thanks

Hello, Adolphus79. Thank you for helping to revert vandalism by 82.44.79.192 (talk · contribs). I have created a recap of recent activity surrounding this user on User talk:82.44.79.192#Recap of recent activity. Could you please review, edit as appropriate, and endorse if you feel compelled? Thanks again for your help. Lbbzman 14:39, 7 June 2006 (UTC)

done... - Adolphus79 20:21, 7 June 2006 (UTC)

Fresh prince2009

Good catch! I had noticed that he had reverted a wfy tag on one of the articles. I'll indefinitely block him so we can clean up his mess. --Woohookitty(meow) 04:22, 8 June 2006 (UTC)

thank you... he's been a bit of a headache for the last 3 days... LOL - Adolphus79 04:27, 8 June 2006 (UTC)

The {ar} template

I've now added a Unicode LEFT-TO-RIGHT MARK control character to the end of the {ar} template, just after the RTL span. This acts as an invisible Latin character, and should force correct rendering of weak-direction characters in following left-to-right text in any conformant BiDi implementation. Please let me know if it fixes the problem in the Zarqawi article. -- The Anome 10:17, 8 June 2006 (UTC)

nope... silly wiki markeu... LOL - Adolphus79 10:19, 8 June 2006 (UTC)
Can you tell me what browser you are using? -- The Anome 10:20, 8 June 2006 (UTC)
I am using IE, and AmiDaniel (talk · contribs) just reverted it saying that it didn't work for him either... - Adolphus79 10:21, 8 June 2006 (UTC)

Can you tell me: does the text below read OK for you?

(Arabic: أبومصعب الزرقاوي)‎(October 20, 1966June 7, 2006)

-- The Anome 10:31, 8 June 2006 (UTC)

yep, just fine... looking now, I think you may have forgotten to add the special character to the article... try it again... - Adolphus79 10:33, 8 June 2006 (UTC)

Ok, I've put the special character in the page, _and_ now in the correct template: I'd put it in {ar}, instead of in {lang-ar}. Does it work for you now? -- The Anome 10:38, 8 June 2006 (UTC)

yep... works great when you remember to actually add it... LOL - Adolphus79 10:40, 8 June 2006 (UTC)

Thanks! I've now gone and taken one last step, which is to remove the special char from the article, but leave it in the template. If it's still fixed for you, I'll add it to the other {ar} templates. -- The Anome 10:44, 8 June 2006 (UTC)

wewt! my first award... /blush... I hope you don't mind when I move it to my user page... - Adolphus79 11:42, 8 June 2006 (UTC)

from what I've seen of you in action, it's very well deserved. Congrats. Dweller 11:43, 8 June 2006 (UTC)
You're most welcome! I'm surprised that that is your first, since I see you do a lot of good work. My efforts at updating Al-Zarqawi were thwarted by you and AmiDaniel :P . Keep up the good work. :) All the best -- Banes 11:48, 8 June 2006 (UTC)

Hi. The photo you inserted on the tarantula hawk page was a Sphecid wasp. Just thought you'd like to know why I removed it. Dyanega 21:43, 9 June 2006 (UTC)

really? thank you! ok... I was not 100% sure myself... I found him/her/it in my backyard, and had never seen one in this area, the best tax I could do was Tarantula hawk... can you edit the taxiclassification on the image's page please? This being an encyclopedia & all... - Adolphus79 02:55, 10 June 2006 (UTC)

Found some vandalism

I reverted some vandalism on your user page that had been there even after a bunch of your edits. Was guessing what was added to your user page wasn't actually added by you. -- TBadger 02:29, 11 June 2006 (UTC)

wow, thank you... I hadn't even noticed that... well, guess my user page is no longer a virgin to vandalism... LOL - Adolphus79 02:32, 11 June 2006 (UTC)

RE: Mark Raper SJ AM

G'day. I've now hopefully allayed your concerns about Mark Raper.RE: "it is an article about a person, group of people, band or club that does not assert the importance or significance of the subject."

I've added considerable details about his role in human rights, refugee and social justice public discourse in Australia. Therefore, the article now asserts the importance and significance of the subject. Perhaps the tags should be taken down now. Cheers, Jpeob 04:44, 11 June 2006 (UTC)

I have removed the speedy tag, but did leave up the notability tag... I understand that he may be a notable figure in your eyes, but please check the link on the tag for biographies, just to ensure he qualifies for notability here within Wikipedia... if after you have checked the notability page, and he does in fact qualify for Wikipedia, feel free to remove the tag yourself... have fun, and happy editing... - Adolphus79 04:54, 11 June 2006 (UTC)

Deprod of K'lee

I have removed the {{prod}} tag from K'lee, which you proposed for deletion, because I feel that this article should not be deleted from Wikipedia. Because her single reached #2 on a national chart, she is notable per WP:MUSIC. I'm leaving this message here to notify you about it. If you still feel the article should be deleted, please don't add the {{prod}} template back to the article. Instead, feel free to list it at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion. Thanks! —C.Fred (talk) 05:05, 11 June 2006 (UTC)

that's no problem, if notability was proven, I have no complaints... have fun, and happy editing... - Adolphus79 05:13, 11 June 2006 (UTC)

Thanks for wikifying my new Cortes article still in early stages...can you do the same for the Eugene Galien Laloue article? also in embryonic stages?

many thanks Peter morrell 13:50, 11 June 2006 (UTC)

sure, no worries, leave me a link here... when I get a chance, I'll take a look at it... - Adolphus79 13:55, 11 June 2006 (UTC)

here you go! Eugène Galien-Laloue thanks a bunch I owe u a beer or 3! Peter morrell 14:01, 11 June 2006 (UTC)

just a note, within wikipedia, you can use the internal linking markup of [[article title]]... I'll take a look at it in just a moment... - Adolphus79 14:05, 11 June 2006 (UTC)
looks like a good start... just remember to cite your sources on both articles, and add categories to Edouard Leon Cortes... have fun, and happy editing... - Adolphus79 14:16, 11 June 2006 (UTC)

Cheers! Peter morrell 14:24, 11 June 2006 (UTC)

spelling

Please do not edit articles if you cannot spell. Note than in this edit you destroyed valid links to River Thames and Wembley Stadium. -- RHaworth 18:58, 11 June 2006 (UTC)

OK, the edit history is misleading. I think you inadvertantly reverted to an old version from Grim's Dyke. -- RHaworth 20:15, 11 June 2006 (UTC)

I did not do that on purpose, and thank you, but I can spell properly... if you look at the history, you will see that someone else had gone though and fixed the spelling while I was editing for tags... the next edit is me fixing a couple of the reverted fixes, and saying 'oops' in the edit summary... and while I admit that I should have gone through and fixed all the typos that I reverted, I assumed that the editor who created the article would do so, and did not want to further step on his toes... that was just a quick visit last night as I was patrolling the new pages list... I have now reverted the article back to the proper spelling... have fun, and happy editing... - Adolphus79 02:48, 12 June 2006 (UTC)

Hi. You tagged this for speedy deletion. The guy is real. He was one of my schoolteachers. I have references, but none of them are online. - Richardcavell 00:27, 12 June 2006 (UTC)

it's not a matter of if he is real or not, it's a matter of notability and verifiablity... the speedy tag has been removed, and replaced with a prod and a notability tag... please check the links included on the notability tag to ensure that this person is notable enough to be included on Wikipedia... also, you need to cite your sources, whether they are online or not... have fun, and happy editing... - Adolphus79 03:20, 12 June 2006 (UTC)
Alright, two can play at this game. I'm putting it on AfD to get consensus about notability. I'm not referencing my sources until the article survives AfD, because I frequently waste my time referencing things only to have them deleted. - Richardcavell 23:07, 12 June 2006 (UTC)
that's pretty brave, taking your own article to AfD... good luck, I hope it survives... - Adolphus79 04:10, 13 June 2006 (UTC)

Antiscience

Hi again Adolphus, I have just made another new page you might like to take a look at and perhaps improve or wikify? here it is Antiscience I will soon build into it some links and refs in due course, as with the others. many thanks Peter morrell 14:44, 12 June 2006 (UTC)

wikify'd... although the article appears to be very POV... you might want to take a step back and ensure you are staying neutral in your views... I added the NPOV tag, there's a link there to the neutrality page... have fun, and happy editing... - Adolphus79 14:56, 12 June 2006 (UTC)

Oh, I thought it looks pretty neutral actually...I will try and improve it but the monkeys will soon find it and rip it to pieces by which I mean pro-science freaks who will resent its very existence. That's OK it's not precious, it is just wikipedia! thanks Peter morrell 15:07, 12 June 2006 (UTC)

Adolphus, I think another clean up and wikify for the antiscience article might be in order. thanks Peter morrell 08:02, 13 June 2006 (UTC)

I'll go check it out right now... - Adolphus79 11:03, 13 June 2006 (UTC)

Hi, Adolphous: I noticed that this user vandalised your talk page, as well as posted a spam article about some sort of Australian giggolo or something. I'm sure he might do the same to mine. I thought that you would want to know that I posted an attack template on his talk page, so... The point of all this is to let you know that I'm wiling to be some kind of backup if you need it from this user. V. Joe 07:39, 13 June 2006 (UTC)

hehe... I noticed the vandalism myself, and had been waiting for him to make any other contributions... the vandalism to my page is the only edit that user has made... I'm assuming he's a sock puppet of Nige 54 (talk · contribs · deleted contribs · nuke contribs · logs · filter log · block user · block log)... thank you, I'll let you know if he ever makes any other edits... - Adolphus79 11:03, 13 June 2006 (UTC)

Thank you for cleaning my talk page - Skysmith 13:07, 13 June 2006 (UTC)

no worries, he just hit mine for clearing your's... like Jimbo would even associate with a blantant vandal like that... LOL - Adolphus79 13:10, 13 June 2006 (UTC)
Apparently tries to continue. - Skysmith 13:17, 13 June 2006 (UTC)
perma-blocked... we'll see if he get's the clue... also made a note on his user talk page, if he ever does come back to check it... - Adolphus79 14:15, 13 June 2006 (UTC)

I've sprotected your userpage, as it appears to be a target for some vandalism right now. This will be removed in a few days, or upon request by you at my userpage. — xaosflux Talk 02:23, 14 June 2006 (UTC)

wewt, thank you... - Adolphus79 02:25, 14 June 2006 (UTC)

Ooops

Whoops. Sorry. I think I accidently only restored the vandal's comments in my attempt to restore mr lefty's that vandal eliminated. Must've been off my rocker, because I didn't get an edit conflict out of it. But you already fixed it. Kevin_b_er 02:29, 14 June 2006 (UTC)

no worries... that vandal was using 3 different IPs... was pure chaos there for a couple minutes... LOL - Adolphus79 02:34, 14 June 2006 (UTC)

Deadend Pages

Hi, I just read your message. From what I read on Wikipedia:Dead-end pages one can put the {{wfy}} tag on articles that have been put up for AFD. To quote "For articles on AFD, you can tag them {{wikify}} (in addition to the AFD notice) and remove them from this list. That way, if they survive deletion, they will still be tagged for fix-up.".

The ones I put the wfy tag one were all articles I, or someone else, put the prod template on. Garion96 (talk) 13:03, 14 June 2006 (UTC)

ok, I'm sorry about that, they must have just recently added that line to the dead-end page... I stand corrected... - Adolphus79 13:28, 14 June 2006 (UTC)
No problem. It's indeed always better to be sure before those deadend articles dissappear again in the 1 million plus articles. :) Garion96 (talk) 14:21, 14 June 2006 (UTC)

Prod

Btw, when I checked your contributions to see if you responded to my msg here, I noticed you re added a {{prod}} template. If someone removes a prod template, then the article should be taken to afd. One can't add the prod template again. See Wikipedia:Proposed deletion#Conflicts. Removing the template is definitely not vandalism. Removing an AFD template of course can be vandalism. Garion96 (talk) 14:39, 14 June 2006 (UTC)

ok... I'll keep that in mind... damn vandals get me going so sometimes... LOL - Adolphus79 19:56, 14 June 2006 (UTC)
That I believe yes. :) Garion96 (talk) 00:01, 15 June 2006 (UTC)

I deleted it again based on the Afd that was in here Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/The Litefantastic Files. Cheers. CambridgeBayWeather (Talk) 03:31, 15 June 2006 (UTC)

no worries... when I first made it someone commented that it had already been deleted once... I'm surprised it made it as long as it did... - Adolphus79 05:11, 15 June 2006 (UTC)
Heck, I liked it ;-) Dweller 08:57, 15 June 2006 (UTC)

Deletion of an article

Hello,

I just wanted to ask your advice on a matter, since you seems to be more familiar with the deletion process than me. I created an article today called List of German exonyms for places in Latvia. It seems to have vanished and as there was no discussion of AfD I'm, not quite sure where it went - if it was deleted or just vanished due to a software fault or something similar. Travelbird 23:42, 15 June 2006 (UTC)

Has been sorted out for the time being. Travelbird 00:03, 16 June 2006 (UTC)
LOL, gotta love it when someone works out their own problems on someone else's talk page... glad you figured it out... feel free to come back if you ever need to figure something else out on your own, or I can try to help you if you don't... have fun, and happy editing... - Adolphus79 05:04, 16 June 2006 (UTC)

Leave u alone

then stop following me around and deleting every thing i type (Googleyii 03:29, 17 June 2006 (UTC))

following vandals is easy, anyone can track your edits... when it's something other than vandalism that you contribute, I'll consider not reverting it... and who's following who? you seem to be vandalizing my page on a daily basis, how can I not follow you? it's my page... - Adolphus79 03:36, 17 June 2006 (UTC)

Hey, I've blocked this user for 48 hours due to personal attacks and whatnot. If this user continues to bother you, please let me know and we can try to deal with it. I don't want to have an indefinite block, as maybe a 48-hour block could do the job.

If I could suggest something, I'd try not to inflame things when the block has expired. Try not to follow said user around, inspecting every one of their edits. WP:AGF. While I admire your dedication to vandalism-reverting, I wouldn't stalk a user around. If other users consider it vandalism, then the changes will be reverted. If you have any questions, take it to my talk page. Ian Manka Talk to me! 03:43, 17 June 2006 (UTC)

While I have the ability to block said user indefinitely, it is my choice not to. Read the above. Further questions, take it to my talk page. Ian Manka Talk to me! 03:52, 17 June 2006 (UTC)
I will keep that in mind, but I haven't been 'following him around'... this started with a nn club that he wrote an article about, maybe 3 days ago... I tagged it for speedy, and removed the same nn information from the school's article... since then he has been harassing me, and vandalizing this page... I tried to AGF, 3 days ago, I didn't even bite the noob, I promise... but now he is really getting annoying, and has already been temp-blocked twice, just to come back and continue attacking me... that is why I had requested the perma-block... - Adolphus79 03:59, 17 June 2006 (UTC)

When removing entries from List of neologisms on The Simpsons

You might find one or two of these templates handy. --Closedmouth 07:18, 20 June 2006 (UTC)

I was thinking about those, but this is a process that will take a couple weeks, as we just pull one at a time off... if you look at the talk page, we're still trying to figure out what belongs on that list to begin with, I think I may add the {{underconstruction}} to it though, just to be safe... thanks... have fun, and happy editing... - Adolphus79 17:44, 20 June 2006 (UTC)

Please subst templates on user talk pages

When using template tags on talk pages, don't forget to substitute with text by adding subst: to the template tag. For example, use {{subst:test}} instead of {{test}}. This reduces server load and prevents accidental blanking of the template. Thanks! --BrownCow • (how now?) 19:43, 20 June 2006 (UTC)

hmm... I normally do... you must have just found one that I missed... thank you... - Adolphus79 22:06, 20 June 2006 (UTC)

Hello there. I changed this to a prod. Although I see a spam warning on the edit notice these days, I'm not aware that CSD now covers adverts. does it?Blnguyen | rant-line 00:58, 21 June 2006 (UTC)

no, I just figured being as blatant as it is, it wasn't worth the time... I suppose we'll go through the proper channels... LOL - Adolphus79 01:03, 21 June 2006 (UTC)

Your recent activity on CSD

Hello Adolphus. I am very unhappy with your recent activity on CSD. I reviewed six of your nominations - and I had to decline ALL SIX. Let's review them (my edit summary in parentheses):

 • Judge Donald Thompson (decline CSD - obviously. Take to AfD if you still want it deleted) - Significance is obviously asserted. Don't bother with prodding, since this person was quite notorious recently for jerking off on the bench during court hearings - I even read about him in the legal periodicals.
 • Jousei Shounan (redirect instead of delete) - CSD A7 does NOT apply to fictional characters!
 • Jon Cleary (decline CSD - obviously. Added many tags) - notability as writer is asserted. Why would you want it deleted, unless it were a hoax??
 • Jeremy Goss (decline CSD - obviously. Added many tags) - notability as football player is obvious!! Why, again would you want it deleted??
 • Jon Turley (decline CSD, prod instead. Notability as author is asserted) - I agree with deletion, but not speedy deletion, as the article clearly states he had been published.
 • Jory Twist (redirect instead of delete) - CSD A7 does NOT apply to fictional characters!

You're WAY off base. You need to seriously re-read WP:CSD. I suggest taking a week off CSD'ing things altogether, while you recalibrate. This is really something awful. I am sorry for being harsh, but you have absolutely deserved it. - CrazyRussian talk/email 13:47, 21 June 2006 (UTC)

I'm sorry about that, I really am... but if those were the only ones not to qualify, I guess it's not so bad... I think I tagged about 50 in total... I was working on Wikipedia:Dead-end pages, and to be honest, I must disagree with you for a moment... I only tagged the articles that as I read them did not prove notability of the subject... whether the subject truly is notable or not, I did not feel that the article proved that... I understand that the subject might be notable enough for inclusion in Wikipedia, and that someone might come along later and expand the subject, but when I read the article, it did not assert the importance or significance of its subject...
I have to admit, it was late at night when I did that, and the fictional characters should have just been redirected... I know that now... I guess the only real excuse I have is that those 6 articles above just happened to get tossed in with the several dozens of other vanity and obviously non-notable articles that I tagged last night... well, that and me still being a noob...
as far as taking a break, you're right... I've only been registered for 2 months now, and I've already made almost (if not more than) 4000 edits... I've been considering taking a WikiBreak myself... the vandals always come back, the deleted articles always come back, what's the point? I will be on a forced WikiBreak during most of July as I am moving, I'm not sure how active I will be when I come back, as it really doesn't seem to matter... don't worry about being harsh, no worries... you're right, those 6 articles did not qualify for speedy... have fun, and happy editing... - Adolphus79 19:46, 21 June 2006 (UTC)
Dude, just to be clear. I reviewed seven of yours, I think. Re-read CSD carefully. No assertion of significance. X is a football player in the big leagues = assertion. X is writer = assertion. X is a judge = even THAT is an assertion. X is a judge who jerked off on the bench and was fired for it = that's FOR SURE an assertion. A7 - no assertion of notability. X is an emo kid from n00b high school - no assertion. Drive safely :) - CrazyRussian talk/email 00:05, 22 June 2006 (UTC)

Userpage

Hi there. Well, I'm afraid you may have come to the wrong person, since I am so inept at HTML and userpages that, well, it's not funny. :P My design was entirely made by Phaedriel and Sango123. Basically whenever I edit it I manage to destroy it somehow. I'd suggest you ask Sango or Phaedriel and see if they would be willing to lend you a hand. Regards -- Banes 06:17, 24 June 2006 (UTC)

Just in case you miss it on the AFD page, I have done a bit of a tidy on the article. It now explains why she was notable (first female X and Y and Z) and has some lines to bios in German and English (although only the German one is much use). Angus McLellan (Talk) 13:23, 24 June 2006 (UTC)

I noticed that a few people have worked on the page, and I have changed my vote accordingly now... - Adolphus79 18:55, 24 June 2006 (UTC)

Sure thing, dear Adolphus!

Leave it all to me, dear Adolphus *raises her sleeves and sounds her knuckles* Just give me a few hours and I'll see what I can do ;) Big hug, Phædriel tell me - 18:03, 24 June 2006 (UTC)

wewt... dear Adolphus? hehe... /blush... thank you ever so much! - Adolphus79 18:56, 24 June 2006 (UTC)

I hope you like it, dear Adolphus! You can see it here; if you feel it's ok, simply copy the text straight into your userpage, or let me know if you want me to change anything of it. It is a very traditional design; you'll have to forgive I'm not in most inspired day :( Have a great week! Big hug, Phædriel tell me - 23:41, 25 June 2006 (UTC)

Simpsons references

A note to interested parties... I had added an entry for Qwigybo in the Simpsons' impact on language but it was edited out. Someone else had earlier suggested a separate entry for it entirely, citing its mention on Answers.com. Not sure I agree with that, but perhaps it would fit better within the neologisms. Anyway, of course it was a joke but the whole point was in creating language so I can't imagine a better fit for one of these two areas. Sorry if I misspelled it; I do not know the exact episode where it appears right now but I can provide it later. Thanks. - Initiael 16:40, 6 September 2006 (UTC)

Hello, you may want to check the List of neologisms on The Simpsons article to see if it is already there... sorry for the delay in answering your post, but I am somewhat limited at the moment as far as internet access goes... you might also want to bring up this subject at Wikipedia:WikiProject The Simpsons, as the other editors there may be more active than I am at the moment... have fun... - Adolphus79 01:46, 9 September 2006 (UTC)
