Redirect or disambiguation page?

[edit]

Hi, I undid your conversion of Vaginism from a redirect to a disambiguation page. I can't find anything either in our article that was added to the disambiguation page, Gender-critical feminism, nor in searches in multiple sources (Google, proquest, and ebscohost). If I've missed something, feel free to discuss it here by pinging me. Since you're fairly new here, you may find Wikipedia:Disambiguation (which covers when to have a dab page and what sorts of articles to include) and Wikipedia:Manual of Style/Disambiguation pages (which covers how those dab pages and entries on it should be formatted) interesting. Happy editing and hope to see you around more! Skynxnex (talk) 22:35, 10 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]

@Skynxnex Hi @Skynxnex:, I have changed the page into a disambiguation page due to the usage of the word "vaginist" to refer to gender-critical feminists on social media. Since I'm new to editing Wikipedia, I am expected to make mistakes as I go along. Could you check with me so that I can learn more about what I should do or not? Antitransphobe (talk) 23:26, 10 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Social media is a bit vague? Although searching X it seems to very occasionally used that way. I think for dabbing it it needs a bit more usage, particularly since it's not mentioned in Gender-critical feminism. Sometimes discussions about whether something should be a redirect or a disambiguation page takes place at WP: Redirects for discussion. Hope that makes some sense? Skynxnex (talk) 23:37, 10 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@Skynxnex That's some food for thought. How relevant should something be in order to deserve being included in Wikipedia? I'm not sure whether the term being used on social media warrants making the edit like this one. Antitransphobe (talk) 00:03, 11 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]
This is a tricky place where there's a lot of good faith disagreement about how common a (honestly negative?) term needs to be in order to be a redirect and/or on a disambiguation page. If you can find any usages outside of strictly social media or it gets much more common there, I'd say it's fair to disambiguate. And if it has general reliable source coverage, it might be due for the target article too. WP:RNEUTRAL has some related thoughts.
I was going to mention potentially adding it to wikt:vaginism but I see you already did :) Skynxnex (talk) 21:17, 11 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Trans Kids Deserve Better draft

[edit]

I hope you don't mind, but I just did some polishing up of Draft:Trans Kids Deserve Better -- some basic standard Wikipedia page things (bolding the title, adding an "official website" link, some readability things (breaking up run-on sentences), and a little WP:POV fix (we can't use the group's website to say that things are getting worse for trans youth, even if it's true; we have to put that as their perspective.) The biggest thing was I bulked it up, not so much to put more information, but to put more and particularly non-queer-specific sources. Not that there was anything wrong with your sources (Pink News is good; I'm not actually familiar with Them), but when trying to demonstrate notability and get something through AfC, it can help if the sources don't seem to be narrowly tailored.

Also, for future note: "notoriety" doesn't just mean "fame", it means specifically "bad fame". (A lot of folks trip over that, when they generally want "notability", which is not-specifically-bad fame) I've cleared out that word.

I hope you're okay with my changes. -- Nat Gertler (talk) 21:30, 13 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Jumping in here as well, I helped polish up the draft adding some formatting and expanded on some of the details with adding a few more sources to support the article and content.
I hope you like the additions. Raladic (talk) 23:00, 13 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]
