Article Evaluation

[edit]

The Article I chose was Inca society.

Is everything in the article relevant to the article topic? Is there anything that distracted you?

Under education, there is material covering knots and how they kept numerical data. However, I don't see the relevance the way this section starts out.

Is the article neutral? Are there any claims, or frames, that appear heavily biased toward a particular position?

The article is not too biased. There are portions that need work and need more information.

Are there viewpoints that are overrepresented, or underrepresented?

The article needs more viewpoints from that time period. However, with a lack of sources/material, I am not sure how to do so.

Check a few citations. Do the links work? Does the source support the claims in the article?

Most of the citations are from book, which I do not have access. One of the links does not have a page that pulls up. From a brief look at the sources, I can not verify any of the information provided.

Is each fact referenced with an appropriate, reliable reference? Where does the information come from? Are these neutral sources? If biased, is that bias noted?

I could not pull up/find the sources. Roughly 5 to 10 pages are provided as references. However, there is a lot of miscellaneous information on this page, which makes me believe it is not reliable.

Is any information out of date? Is anything missing that could be added?

A lot of information is missing. If the books are true sources, all three are out of date and older than 10 years.

Check out the Talk page of the article. What kinds of conversations, if any, are going on behind the scenes about how to represent this topic?

A lot of people are asking for sources and citations. There was also someone who noted that the page had been vandalized in the past. So it is possible that most of the information is not very good or someone has purposely changed the article to make it sound unreliable.

How is the article rated? Is it a part of any WikiProjects?

It is rated as a start-class article and of mid-importance. This article is part of two different groups. By one of the groups, it is rated as needing immediate attention.

How does the way Wikipedia discusses this topic differ from the way we've talked about it in class?

Not Applicable.

Reviewing Religion in the Inca Empire

  • Good detail of each deity
  • Organization is good, seems to go from most important to least
  • Clear description of what each deity’s job is for the world
  • Some grammar errors
  • Paragraph on Mamaquilla is randomly bolded completely. I’m not sure why, but it should be unbolded to keep everything uniform
  • Most important (in my opinion): You should really fix how choppy the first two paragraphs are. I think they could use some work to make them easier to read. However the information is there, and it is good, so you should keep all that.
