Welcome

[edit]

Welcome!

Hello, Bakeysaur99, and welcome to Wikipedia! Thank you for your contributions, especially what you did for 11th Army (Germany). I hope you like the place and decide to stay. Here are some pages that you might find helpful:

I hope you enjoy editing here and being a Wikipedian! Please sign your messages on discussion pages using four tildes (~~~~); this will automatically insert your username and the date. If you need help, check out Wikipedia:Questions, ask me on my talk page, or ask your question on this page and then place {{helpme}} before the question. Again, welcome! | Uncle Milty | talk | 00:06, 30 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Hello there! I see your article, Haldimand S. Putnam, has some text that has been copied from Famous Americans. That text is under copyright. I have reworded the text, but on Wikipedia, copyright violations are a big deal. Please read WP:Copyright violations and WP:Copyrights for more information, and avoid violating copyright in the future. You can be blocked if you continue to add copyrighted material. GorillaWarfare talk-review me! 03:13, 16 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

The article John Moore (EITC) has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

No citations, No apparent notability, and I could find nothing on-line that would suggest that this person ever existed.

While all contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{dated prod}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. The speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Jojhutton (talk) 21:48, 16 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I have nominated Hugh Wheeler (British Army Officer), an article that you created, for deletion. I do not think that this article satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and have explained why at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Hugh Wheeler (British Army Officer). Your opinions on the matter are welcome at that same discussion page; also, you are welcome to edit the article to address these concerns. Thank you for your time.

Please contact me if you're unsure why you received this message. Jojhutton (talk) 21:52, 16 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Recent article creations

[edit]

Hi, History is an important subject - your contributions are very welcome, and I have noticed that you created several new articles today. However, perhaps you would like to consider completing each article with the minimum requirements, before moving on to create the next one. That way, our encyclopedia will look more complete, and you will avoid any eventual proposals for deletion of your hard work. If you need any help understanding these details, please do not hesitate to ask me on my talk page. Cheers, --Kudpung (talk) 23:48, 18 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Editors have now completed assessing your recent contributions. These are valuable history articles. Perhaps it might be an idea to consider merging all the Capture, Landing, and Siege stubs into your main article. It's just an idea I had, before another editor places merge or delete template on them all. Let me know what you think. because one longer, complete article could be eventual material for WP:GA status.--Kudpung (talk) 00:10, 19 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Nomination of John Moore (EITC) for deletion

[edit]

A discussion has begun about whether the article John Moore (EITC), which you created or to which you contributed, should be deleted. While contributions are welcome, an article may be deleted if it is inconsistent with Wikipedia policies and guidelines for inclusion, explained in the deletion policy.

The article will be discussed at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/John Moore (EITC) until a consensus is reached, and you are welcome to contribute to the discussion.

You may edit the article during the discussion, including to address concerns raised in the discussion. However, do not remove the article-for-deletion template from the top of the article. Kudpung (talk) 00:18, 19 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Possible disruptive editing?page creation

[edit]

Hi, I've asked you above if you could consider cleaning up your articles before making new ones. There are three good reasons for this: First, you will avoid them being deleted for being incomplete, secondly, it will avoid editors duplicating any effort to clean them up which you may have planned for later, and finally, it will save editors having to tag the articles as fast as you create them and leave messages like this on your talk page. If you do not understand the requirements for new articles, I'm ready to help explain them, but continued mass creations of incomplete new articles will lead to a formal warning, and an eventual block of your editing. Kind regards, --Kudpung (talk) 01:02, 19 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, thanks for your quick reply. The stub icons aren't the problem, although it helps if they are there. The biggest issues are the total lack of references. If an article isn't referenced, it shouldn't be created, because it means if you can't find any sources, probably no one else can. Do have a look at the tags that have been placed on the articles you created today, and see if you can shape them up - you obviously got your information from somewhere. If you can't provide a link to the source or the name of the book, an editor will ask for deletion because of original research, which isn't allowed.(See WP:OR). More importantly, if you look at my earlier messages today, do consider merging all these articles into one nice long one that could probably be come a candidate for Good Article status. take care, --Kudpung (talk) 01:32, 19 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Campaignbox Goliad Campaign

[edit]

Hi Bakeysaur99. I saw that you've created Template:Campaignbox Goliad Campaign. I think this would be much more useful as a navigation template. As a campaignbox, we can really only include the articles Goliad Campaign, Battle of Refugio, and Battle of Coleto, which largely duplicates information that is already in the Texas Revolution campaignbox. If this were a navigation template at the bottom of the article, we could also link to Goliad Massacre and the major combatants, without having to worry about being strictly a duplication. Would you mind making that change? Karanacs (talk) 21:11, 23 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

PS I note that you've now added the Goliad massacre, which was not a battle and as such should not be part of a campaignbox. This is also confusing given that there is a (very different) Battle of Goliad linked in the Texas Revolution campaignbox. Karanacs (talk) 21:12, 23 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Since the above is a new article, it would be really useful if you could include inline references so that readers can see where the information comes from. Perhaps something along the lines of the style already used at Château Gaillard, but really as long as it's clear where all the information has come from (per Wikipedia's policy on verifiability) the format is of secondary importance. Nev1 (talk) 01:19, 27 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Please refrain from introducing inappropriate pages, such as Despenser wars, to Wikipedia. Doing so is not in accordance with our policies. If you would like to experiment, please use the sandbox.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag - if no such tag exists then the page is no longer a speedy delete candidate and adding a hangon tag is unnecessary), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Lastly, please note that if the page does get deleted, you can contact one of these administrators to request that they userfy the page or have a copy emailed to you. Guerillero | My Talk 23:31, 12 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I am very sorry. I asked the sysop to undelete your page. I have a gut feeling i pushed the nominate for speedy deletion button far far too early. I did a look around for any sources on google and they all looked like wikipedia mirrors. --Guerillero | My Talk 23:59, 12 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

It is not generally wise to move a large article that has seen devoted work by several editors without a discussion first, either formal or informal. In this case it was worse because a previous discussion had resulted in a move to the current title. That can be read at Talk:War of the Grand Alliance/Archive 1. If you would like to see the article moved to War of the Grand Alliance, please propose it, with your reasoning, per the instructions at WP:Requested moves. It's not hard; it's a one-step process. Orphaned non-free image File:HammurabiCiv4.jpg

[edit]
⚠

Thanks for uploading File:HammurabiCiv4.jpg. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of "file" pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. OEF-Pankisi Gorge

[edit]

Hi Bakeysaur99, greetings. I have consistently redirected 'OEF-Pankisi Gorge' to Georgia Train and Equip Program because I have never once ever found any U.S. official documents that refer to 'Operation Enduring Freedom - Pankisi Gorge.' Wikipedia does not make things up if they do not exist in the real world. We need WP:Reliable Sources. Can you show me some WP:RSs for OEF-Pankisi? If not, I will have to unfortunately redirect the article again. Kind regards from New Zealand, Buckshot06 (talk) 02:20, 6 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Please, for the second time, DO NOT add Operation Enduring Freedom references to this article unless you have reliable sources. Buckshot06 (talk) 21:19, 8 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Please do not introduce incorrect information into articles. Your edits appear to be vandalism and have been reverted. If you believe the information you added was correct, please cite references or sources or discuss the changes on the article's talk page before making them again. If you would like to experiment, use the sandbox. Thank you.

Please stop your disruptive editing. If you continue to vandalize pages by deliberately introducing incorrect information, you may be blocked from editing. Buckshot06 (talk) 23:08, 11 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

This is your last warning; the next time you disrupt Wikipedia, you may be blocked from editing without further notice. Buckshot06 (talk) 23:31, 12 December 2010 (UTC) You must communicate with other wikipedians -either on this page or at the articles' talkpage - who are concerned about your additions, or you will be blocked. Do not copy and paste text from news stories into Wikipedia

[edit]

Your addition to Operation Enduring Freedom - Spain has been removed, as it appears to have added copyrighted material to Wikipedia without permission from the copyright holder. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other websites or printed material; such additions will be deleted. You may use external websites or publications as a source of information, but not as a source of article content such as sentences or images. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing. Nick-D (talk) 05:40, 12 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I note that you have a history of uploading files without their copyright status being clear and questionable edits. You will be blocked if any of this continues. Nick-D (talk) 05:41, 12 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Blocked

[edit]
You have been blocked indefinitely from editing for adding further copyright violations despite being warned for doing so. If you would like to be unblocked, you may appeal this block by adding the text {{unblock|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}} below this notice, but you should read the guide to appealing blocks first. Nick-D (talk) 06:44, 13 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]
In this edit you re-added the blatant copyright violation I had warned you about above. In light of your history of adding photos with unclear copyright status and unhelpful edits in which you appear to be making up wars (or at least the names of wars), I'm setting the block duration to indefinite. Nick-D (talk) 06:44, 13 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]
