Another editor has added the {{prod}} template to the article Ashley-Paul Robinson, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process. All contributions are appreciated, but the editor doesn't believe it satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and has explained why in the article (see also Wikipedia:What Wikipedia is not and Wikipedia:Notability). Please either work to improve the article if the topic is worthy of inclusion in Wikipedia or discuss the relevant issues at its talk page. If you remove the {{prod}} template, the article will not be deleted, but note that it may still be sent to Wikipedia:Articles for deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached. Dougie Freedman's date of birth

[edit]

Hello. According to the Sky Sports Yearbook, "PFA Footballers' who's who", "Football League Players' Records", footballsquads.co.uk, Soccernet and various other sources, Freedman was born on 21 January 1974. The only source I know of that lists his DOB as 25 May is Soccerbase, and my guess is that it's a typo. --Badmotorfinger (talk) 18:49, 6 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Updating statistics

[edit]

Please may I suggest that you do not update player infobox statistics while a match is in progress, as you appear to have done with Ishmael Miller. Wikipedia is an encyclopedia built from verifiable sources, not an up-to-the-minute stats service. I would recommend not updating the stats until after the match has finished and evidence of the player's appearance becomes available. It causes confusion if Wikipedia is updated before the sources upon which it is built (soccerbase or BBC Sport for example). I haven't reverted your edits but I hope you could bear this in mind for the future. Thanks. --Jameboy (talk) 20:07, 12 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

It appears that you have not heeded this advice. Please wait until matches are finished before editing their pages. Kevin McE (talk) 21:29, 28 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Re James McFadden. Please be careful when you update player stats, and don't just add 1 to whatever was there before. By the time Monday's game finished, you had McFadden at 9 appearances and 6 goals, for which there was certainly no reliable source, seeing as he only has 8 appearances and 4 goals. cheers, Struway2 (talk) 11:22, 19 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Your edits to Robbie Keane and Michael Essien

[edit]

Hi, Your edits to Robbie Keane and Michael Essien yesterday have been undone because you got the figures wrong. It is important that Wikipedia articles are based on reliable sources, so please will you be more careful when you update player stats in the future. Thank you. Struway2 (talk) 11:00, 20 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Scott Flinders

[edit]

Hi, I hope you don't mind my asking, just Scott Flinders, I was wondering where you had seen the news about him signing for Blackpool as it has only been on the official BFC site for about 10 minutes? I've been trying to source it to get it put up as it has been rumoured through the day he was signing, but hadn't seen anything online? Thanks! ♦Tangerines♦·Talk 16:08, 27 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

It's on the official Blackpool site. >Talk 16:12, 27 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Edit summary

[edit]

Hello. Please don't forget to provide an edit summary, which wasn't included with your recent edit to Paul Dickov. It is good practice to fill in the Edit Summary field, or add to it in the case of section editing, as it helps everyone to understand what is changed, such as when perusing the history of the page. When updating footballers appearances it is usual to add an edit summary with something like, "updating stats" so that other users know what has been done. Thank you. ♦Tangerines♦·Talk 16:52, 29 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Mauro Zárate

[edit]

Hi. You edited Mauro Zárate's stats yesterday by just adding 1 to his appearances without bothering to find out if your figure was correct or not. You put 7, he has 8. Please stop adding random numbers to player stats. You aren't helping the encyclopedia by persistently making sloppy edits. cheers, Struway2 (talk) 08:47, 30 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Speedy deletion of Ryan carolan

[edit]

A tag has been placed on Ryan carolan requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a person or group of people, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is notable: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not indicate the subject's importance or significance may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable, as well as our subject-specific notability guideline for biographies.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Lastly, please note that if the article does get deleted, you can contact one of these admins to request that a copy be emailed to you. triwbe (talk) 06:38, 31 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Image Copyright problem
Image Copyright problem

Thank you for uploading Image:9442.jpg. However, it currently is missing information on its copyright status. Wikipedia takes copyright very seriously. It may be deleted soon, unless we can determine the license and the source of the image. If you know this information, then you can add a copyright tag to the image description page.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their license and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link.

If you have any questions, please feel free to ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thanks again for your cooperation. J Milburn (talk) 12:45, 15 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:DSC 1580.jpg. The image has been identified as not specifying the copyright status of the image, which is required by Wikipedia's policy on images. Even if you created the image yourself, you still need to release it so Wikipedia can use it. If you don't indicate the copyright status of the image on the image's description page, using an appropriate copyright tag, it may be deleted some time in the next seven days. If you made this image yourself, you can use copyright tags like {{PD-self}} (to release all rights), {{self|CC-by-sa-3.0|GFDL}} (to require that you be credited), or any tag here - just go to the image, click edit, and add one of those. If you have uploaded other images, please verify that you have provided copyright information for them as well.

For more information on using images, see the following pages:

This is an automated notice by STBotI. For assistance on the image use policy, see Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. NOTE: once you correct this, please remove the tag from the image's page. STBotI (talk) 08:19, 16 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Jefferson Louis

[edit]

You wrote that Louis has two caps for Dominica. I only know of the one cap against Barbados in the second leg of the tie...what is the other one?

The article Alex Wynter has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Fails WP:ATH - had never played for the first team in a professional league

While all contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page.
