Do not add fake box office gross figures to Wikipedia articles.[1] (Figures added did not match Box Office Mojo or the Numbers, if somehow you got figures from somewhere else you must add a reference to that other source.) Your edit has been reverted. -- 109.76.202.105 (talk) 16:54, 23 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

I got it from the top grossing films website if you want to check that out. Cheqhz (talk) 18:53, 23 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
If you want to add something to this encyclopedia the WP:BURDEN is on you to properly cite your sources when you add it. Other editors need to be able to WP:VERIFY the information added, not magically guess where you might have found the figures, and especially when those figures seem to contradict sources such as The Numbers or Box office Mojo which are normally considered reliable.
The documentation of Template:Infobox film explains that the gross is "the worldwide gross revenue accrued by the film in its theatrical run (home media sales should instead be covered in the article body)." so perhaps the other source you saw was also adding home media sales. But other editors should not have to guess what you are trying to do or why, it should be made clear by the sources you included with your edit and a meaningful edit summary to explain your changes too. -- 109.76.202.105 (talk) 19:17, 23 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
