Category edits

The above is an example of the bot adding the talk pages to categories. Would I be correct that that is not the intended outcome of the posting? - jc37 07:07, 4 October 2008 (UTC)

Yes, I will go fix that now --Chris 07:08, 4 October 2008 (UTC)
 Done --Chris 07:50, 4 October 2008 (UTC)

Chris G there's something wrong with the page which is edited by your new adminbot FA Template Protection Bot. It's displaying "Expression error: Unrecognised punctuation character "{" "near the bottom over and over again. Just found this out. Techman224Talk 18:03, 5 October 2008 (UTC)

Read the top of the page

This bot does not parse template parameters, so the templates below may not reflect the contents of the current Featured Article; Please disregard any errors indicated, as these are normal and expected.

That error is not an error in the bot, its just one of the templates transcluded on the page chucking a hissy fit because the bot did not give it any parameters --Chris 02:14, 6 October 2008 (UTC)

I've updated the bot so that it hides the errors using <div style="display: none"> --Chris 10:29, 10 October 2008 (UTC)

This was one of the titles you protected after a vandal was moving pages[2], but unlike others you protected, this one is a valid alternative name. I think it should be a redirect to B.C. Catholic, and if necessary a minor edit could be made to the redirect to prevent the page being moved again. --Snigbrook (talk) 21:16, 5 October 2008 (UTC)

Correction: the page is currently at B. C. Catholic, although it should be B.C. Catholic[3] (or maybe The B.C. Catholic, I don't know which naming conventions apply, and whether "The" should be part of the page name). --Snigbrook (talk) 21:21, 5 October 2008 (UTC)
Moved to The B.C. Catholic per WP:MOS --Chris 02:31, 6 October 2008 (UTC)

Template:Spoken Wikipedia boilerplate

Chris, I suspect your recent removal of some div tags in Template:Spoken Wikipedia boilerplate has caused a major snafu across Wikipedia. Bird is suddenly placing its entire text into a {{Spoken Wikipedia}} box. When I checked that template, I saw that the info normally shown for a template is also forced into an right-justified box. Since the only template in that template is T:SWb, it would seem to be either your edits or a change in some CSS that has caused the problem. Could you examine this situation? Thanks. ~ Jeff Q (talk) 05:47, 11 October 2008 (UTC)

Thanks for drawing this to my attention. I've added the tags in the correct template, it should hopefully be fixed now. If you see anything that's still playing up, drop me a note and I'll try to fix it. --Chris 05:59, 11 October 2008 (UTC)
Looks good to me. Thanks for fixing it! ~ Jeff Q (talk) 22:11, 11 October 2008 (UTC)

Page Move Vandalism Cleanup

Chris, I noticed you've been cleaning up some page move vandalism at the William Penn article. I just wanted to confirm that both the users involved were blocked and request that the page they were moving it to be create protected and added to the title blacklist. I'm not sure I'm actually in the right place, but thought it best to come to you as the vandalism has stopped for now and you were the last admin to delete the page. NullofWest Fill the Void 12:43, 11 October 2008 (UTC)

Yes the vandal was blocked, any one (i.e. Grawp) who starts moving pages to HAĠĠER or H-E-R-M-E-E is likely to be blocked in under five minutes(in some cases under 30 seconds). Create protection is unnecessary but I've been updating the title black list to help stop these moves --Chris 12:50, 11 October 2008 (UTC)
Thanks Chris, if he comes back to that article with a new account I'll put in a Move Protection request - however the way things are going there I wouldn't be suprised if it ended up on a temporary full or indefinite semi. NullofWest Fill the Void 13:05, 11 October 2008 (UTC)

Careful...

.... somehow your edits to {{Spoken Wikipedia boilerplate}} destroyed the formatting of Julius Caesar (through {{Spoken Wikipedia-3}} (those div end tags closed something that some other part had opened, dunno what).

Test, test and test again.... --Alvestrand (talk) 16:27, 13 October 2008 (UTC)

*groan* those templates are really poorly written, all the closing div tags should be contained in the same template. It shouldn't need another template to close the tags. I'll take a look through and see if I can find any more broken templates --Chris 09:02, 14 October 2008 (UTC)

Is that yours?

By the way, how do you have User talk:Chris G/Header/Edit Intro transcluded on the edit page? I'm curious :) -- lucasbfr talk 19:23, 15 October 2008 (UTC)
Nope, not me. It's a new software feature, just create Special:Mytalk/Editnotice with the text you want to show --Chris 04:18, 18 October 2008 (UTC)

A usurpation you provided earlier this year has dissapeared

Hi Chris, you facilitated a usurp for me in April from inactive Rtg to RTG which I have been using to edit on several wikis. Around the time of this usurp I took a wikibreak and possibly after only making around 6 edits on en.wiki as RTG. I have been more active on simple.wiki. Now it won't log me in and I tried emailing a new password with no success. I have here the references [4] [5] [6]. I seldom have any changes to make here (although some occasional) but as I make a lot of edits on simple.wiki at times I was trying to secure the name to prevent mix ups and vandalism. I have this name on several english speaking wikis. Any help or advice for me? (btw I attempted to create RTG again and it claims it is in use but no response to my passwords or email) thanks 89.204.245.49 (talk) 02:23, 24 October 2008 (UTC)

By the looks of things you have not set an email for that account so you won't be able to reset your password via email. You might be able to get a bureaucrat to rename the RTG account out of the way so you can recreate it. Hope this helps --Chris 08:55, 24 October 2008 (UTC)

Yep. will do thanks chris. 89.204.245.49 (talk) 09:04, 24 October 2008 (UTC)

Another Usurp Question

Hello Chris. Good morning, or evening or even afternoon. I noticed your name at my usurp request here. Is there anything else I need to do? I'm ready for my new bat-identity :P XF Law talk at me 17:31, 24 October 2008 (UTC)

Nope, you seem to have done everything. Enjoy your new username --Chris 04:19, 25 October 2008 (UTC)
Thanks Mr.G! Law shoot! 04:23, 25 October 2008 (UTC)

Thankyou

Thanks for defending my talkpage from the 4chan morons, it hasnt gone unnoticed. The reason I dont want my talk page protected is because of moral principals. Looks like they got bored.....for now. Thanks again !   «l| Ψrometheăn ™|l»  (talk) 10:41, 28 October 2008 (UTC)
