I think you've done a good job adding key information. Your changes to the opening might get questioned... they lean a little toward analysis instead of the presentation of fact... but I think we should wait and see whether or not that's an issue, since you have a source and I'd argue that the lack of "strong women" in historical accounts does have an impact on how we understand the sport.
