Padraig McKearney questions

[edit]

Hi, I've posted some questions about the Padraig McKearney article on its talk page. Would you mind having a look? Cheers, Jdorney 02:05, 16 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Padraig_McKearney.jpg. However, the image may soon be deleted unless we can determine the copyright holder and copyright status. The Wikimedia Foundation is very careful about the images included in Wikipedia because of copyright law (see Wikipedia's Copyright policy).

The copyright holder is usually the creator, the creator's employer, or the last person who was transferred ownership rights. Copyright information on images is signified using copyright templates. The three basic license types on Wikipedia are open content, public domain, and fair use. Find the appropriate template in Wikipedia:Image copyright tags and place it on the image page like this: {{TemplateName}}.

Please signify the copyright information on any other images you have uploaded or will upload. Remember that images without this important information can be deleted by an administrator.

This is an automated notice by OrphanBot. If you have questions about copyright tagging of images, post on Wikipedia talk:Image copyright tags or User talk:Carnildo/images. 18:51, 23 February 2006 (UTC)

Use of the descrition Volunteer

[edit]

I thought you would be interested to see the following discussion where we are debating the use of the term volunteer as a member of the IRA http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia_talk:Manual_of_Style_%28Ireland-related_articles%29#IRA_articles:_usage_of_the_word_.22volunteer.22 Vintagekits 16:25, 26 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Welcome back

[edit]

I liked a lot of your edits - very inciteful! Are you going to stick around this time?--Vintagekits 14:18, 15 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I'm always around, be it in the shadows or not. I react when I feel there's a need.--Contorebel 14:30, 15 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Like the good Contro that you are!! A cahara, I am going to try and write a good article about Patrick "Pat" Kelly, East Tyrone Brigade - one that does not just focus on his murder at Loughall, would you be willing to help?--Vintagekits 14:34, 15 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I'll definitely help. I was a little ticked when they removed his article. The guy was the commander of the most elite IRA Brigade of the mid eighties, surely that entitles him to an article.--Contorebel 14:39, 15 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Well we still have the history from that article as it was only merged. I am going to set up a new page for him on the {{WP:IR}} project page and work from there. Send me an email via my user page and I will send you some links on him.--Vintagekits 14:48, 15 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Yeah, that's right. I had it written down, but it was only yesterday that I put up a few userboxes.--Contorebel 13:14, 6 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Yeah, it said you lived in Zagreb, but I thought you must have escaped emmigrated from Ireland.--Vintagekits (talk) 13:38, 6 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Disputed fair use rationale for Image:Tony-Gormley.jpg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Tony-Gormley.jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale you have provided for using this image under "fair use" may be invalid. Please read the instructions at Wikipedia:Non-free content carefully, then go to the image description page and clarify why you think the image qualifies for fair use. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it will be deleted within a couple of days according to our criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot 16:48, 3 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for edits to Rutilio Grande

[edit]

Very nice additions to what was an overly skimpy article on such an important figure. I've often felt bad I haven't expanded that article more than I have, so it's reassuring to see other editors take up the work, which is part of the whole Wikipedia notion. Kurdish and amazigh support for zionism

[edit]

Hello, i would like to know why you reverted this information. Kurdish and amazigh support for Zionism is existent and a source was supplied - albit with a problem of technicallity. this was discussed in the talk page. it would have been more courteous to leave a message in the talk page and/or provide a reason for the revert. 12:44, 23 June 2008 (UTC)

My apologies, it wasn't my intention to revert the information itself, I was focused on the fact that the entire lower part of the article was missing (from Footnotes downward).--Contorebel 18:52, 23 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Sure, don't sweat it. I-P stuff makes some people go a bit twitchy. i just wanted to make sure it was a mistake indeed before trying to return the information. insofar almost none of my I-P edits have been reverted, something i'm quite proud of :) 85.64.228.215 (talk) 03:46, 24 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Image permission problem with Image:Seamus McElwain.jpg

[edit]
Image Copyright problem
Image Copyright problem

Thanks for uploading Image:Seamus McElwain.jpg. I noticed that while you provided a valid copyright licensing tag, there is no proof that the creator of the image (or other media file) agreed to license it under the given license.

If you created this media entirely yourself but have previously published it elsewhere (especially online), please either

  • make a note permitting reuse under the GFDL or another acceptable free license (see this list) at the site of the original publication; or
  • Send an email from an address associated with the original publication to permissions-en@wikimedia.org, stating your ownership of the material and your intention to publish it under a free license. You can find a sample permission letter here.

If you did not create it entirely yourself, please ask the person who created the image to take one of the two steps listed above, or if the owner of the image has already given their permission to you via email, please forward that email to permissions-en@wikimedia.org.

If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair use, and add a rationale justifying the image's use on the article or articles where it is included. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have provided evidence that their copyright owners have agreed to license their works under the tags you supplied, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Images lacking evidence of permission may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Skier Dude (talk) 06:51, 30 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:Seamus McElwain.jpg. The image has been identified as not specifying the copyright status of the image, which is required by Wikipedia's policy on images. If you don't indicate the copyright status of the image on the image's description page, using an appropriate copyright tag, it may be deleted some time in the next seven days. If you have uploaded other images, please verify that you have provided copyright information for them as well.

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page.
