Welcome!

[edit]

Hello, DEBBI B 02, and welcome to Wikipedia! Thank you for your contributions.

I noticed that one of the first articles you edited appears to be dealing with a topic with which you may have a conflict of interest. In other words, you may find it difficult to write about that topic in a neutral and objective way, because you are, work for, or represent, the subject of that article. Your recent contributions may have already been undone for this very reason.

To reduce the chances of your contributions being undone, you might like to draft your revised article before submission, and then ask me or another editor to proofread it. See our help page on userspace drafts for more details. If the page you created has already been deleted from Wikipedia, but you want to save the content from it to use for that draft, don't hesitate to ask anyone from this list and they will copy it to your user page.

One rule we do have in connection with conflicts of interest is that accounts used by more than one person will unfortunately be blocked from editing. Wikipedia generally does not allow editors to have usernames which imply that the account belongs to a company or corporation. If you have a username like this, you should request a change of username or create a new account. (A name that identifies the user as an individual within a given organization may be OK.)

In addition, if you receive, or expect to receive, compensation for any contribution you make, you must disclose your employer, client, and affiliation to comply with our terms of use and our policy on paid editing.

Here are some pages that you might find helpful:

I hope you enjoy editing here and being a Wikipedian! Please sign your messages on talk pages using four tildes (~~~~); this will automatically insert your username and the date. If you need help, visit the Teahouse, check out Wikipedia:Questions, ask me on my talk page, or ask your question on this page and then place {{Help me}} before the question. Again, welcome! -- Ponyobons mots 22:51, 17 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Ponyo.
Can you tell me exactly what do I need to add and where?
Also what should I delete or fx on my writing.
And also, if my boss do it himself, would ir be easier. DEBBI B 02 (talk) 21:49, 1 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Your boss would need to follow the same disclosure guidelines as he also has a conflict of interest. Per WP:PAY, you may propose changes on talk pages by using the {{edit COI}} template or by posting a note at the COI noticeboard, so that they can be peer reviewed.-- Ponyobons mots 21:56, 1 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, I'm Materialscientist. I noticed that you made a change to an article, Juan Carlos Paz y Puente, but you didn't provide a source. I’ve removed it for now, but if you’d like to include a citation to a reliable source and re-add it, please do so! If you think I made a mistake, or if you have any questions, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Thanks. Materialscientist (talk) 07:46, 20 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Can you tell me exactly what kind of source you are talking about, a source to what or to whom. Like you need a LinkedIn??? DEBBI B 02 (talk) 03:13, 1 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]
We are asking for published sources, preferably ones that are independent. LinkedIn is not a good example of the kind of sources we want to see, nor would press releases or other publicity put out by him or one of his publishers. They need not be in English, they do not necessarily have to be online. More details are available at reliable sources.

Information icon Hello, DEBBI B 02. We welcome your contributions, but if you have an external relationship with the people, places or things you have written about on Wikipedia, you may have a conflict of interest (COI). Editors with a conflict of interest may be unduly influenced by their connection to the topic. See the conflict of interest guideline and FAQ for organizations for more information. We ask that you:

In addition, you are required by the Wikimedia Foundation's terms of use to disclose your employer, client, and affiliation with respect to any contribution which forms all or part of work for which you receive, or expect to receive, compensation. See Wikipedia:Paid-contribution disclosure.

Also, editing for the purpose of advertising, publicising, or promoting anyone or anything is not permitted. Thank you.-- Ponyobons mots 18:01, 24 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Help request

[edit]

Hi. All I did was updating my boss information, which is all true. Indeed this is a conflict for me. What was exactly what was wrong in my articule and how can I fix it? DEBBI B 02 (talk) 02:09, 1 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]

You say Juan Carlos Paz y Puente is your boss. It kinda shows in how you write about him. Your additions did not provide sources and were written in far too promotional a tone to remain.
Because you are writing about someone you have a close connection to, you need to disclose the connection on your user page, which, at this point, still needs to be created. There are instructions above for how to disclose, but it could be as simple as writing the statement "Juan Carlos Paz y Puente is my boss." on your user page.
After you've accomplished the disclosure, the proper way to go forward is to use the Edit Request Wizard to request that changes be made. An uninvolved editor will look over the request and make the changes in a way that complies with Wikipedia policies. Remember to include references that support the changes you want. — jmcgnh(talk) (contribs) 03:19, 1 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]
More than a conflict of interest disclosure is required if you are editing this article in relation to your employment. Please ensure you follow the instructions at WP:PAID prior to making any further edits. One the required disclosures are in place, you can use the article talk page to request changes to the article per the instructions at WP:PAY. @Jmcgnh: as an FYI.-- Ponyobons mots 17:14, 1 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]
