LGBT Studies Project

[edit]

Hi Dev920, i just wanted to ask if there was willingness to fire up a newsletter and maybe a competition (similar to the bacon competition) to get more activity for the Wikiproject since it's becoming more and more inactive despite more and more people joining? Thanks Jenova20 (email) 16:16, 24 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited Gaius Cassius Parmensis, you added links pointing to the disambiguation pages Mark Anthony, Lepidus and Cassia (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

Wiki Loves Pride 2014

[edit]

Hi Dev920. In case you are not aware, there is an upcoming campaign to improve coverage of LGBT-related topics on Wikipedia, culminating with an international edit-a-thon on June 21. See Wiki Loves Pride 2014 for more information. If you are interested, you might consider creating a page for a major city (or cities!) near you, with a list of LGBT-related articles that need to be created or improved. This would be a tremendous help to Wikipedia and coverage of LGBT culture and history. Thanks for your consideration, and please let me know if you have any questions! --Another Believer (Talk) 15:41, 9 May 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Possible removal of AWB access due to inactivity

[edit]

Hello! There is currently a request for approval of a bot to manage the AutoWikiBrowser CheckPage by removing inactive users, among other tasks. You are being contacted because you may qualify as an inactive user of AWB. First, if you have any input on the proposed bot task, please feel free to comment at the BRFA. Should the bot task be approved, your access to AWB may be uncontroversially removed if you do not resume editing within a week's time. Jorge Perez Evelyn

[edit]

Dear Dev920: I belong to the LGBT community in my country Argentina, and I am sorry for this long text but I truly need your help. I suspect here is a matter of discrimination because the subject is a gay person and a female impersonator, and there is a person that reverts everything to a more neutral article, removing ALL important references as I will explain to you. I have been a victim of the military persecution in Argentina named the "Dirty War" back in the 70's. So has also been the subject of the article i did: JORGE PEREZ EVELYN ( Evelyn is the name of the stage character but everybody called him by the full name).. The military government was killing everybody that did not conformed their parameters, and there was an special cruelty with our community. I was not lucky to meet Jorge Perez Evelyn in person because he left the country, but I know him as spectator of his shows. I remember that he was forced to abandon Argentina in the top of his career because the military took the control of the government and only limited him to act in theaters but not in television or movies. He was supposed to do a movie "My girlfriend the travesty" but the military censor ordered to the word "travesty" be removed. BUT, as soon as the military censor found that Jorge Perez Evelyn was starring the movie he very loud shout that would not allow the movie to be screened. the movie ended up being done by a woman ( YES ?! she was allowed to dress as a man) and the script was also redone to conform the stereotype allowed back then. ( instead of having a happy gay ending) the movie ended that the transvestite was a true woman "making believe was a man to succeed in her acting career)... Jorge Perez Evelyn could not tolerate anymore and left the country. In Venezuela did a great career being the cover of all the famous magazines in that country and then Europe.

Jorge is now living in United States with is lifetime partner Rodolfo Valentin a famous hairstylist in New York. ( In fact Jorge and Rodolfo left Argentina together) in the 70's.

My problem is that the person in Wikipedia is removing everything that I believe is very important to be in this biography!

1-In the info-box has been removed that jorge perez evelyn lives in New York City, United States. 2-In the info-box has been removed that his partner is RODOLFO VALENTIN and many other things as showing in my last edit in September 6 in the evening. 3-in the body article itself, all the references to the dirty war in Argentina has been completely removed INCLUDING all the explanations about the censored movie and all the suffering experienced by being part of the LGBT community in that times! 4-ALSO: the last paragraph about his personal life has been TOTALLY REMOVED !! why? just because it is showing that Jorge is currently an active GLAAD member helping the LGBT community by complaining to the president for the attacks to the community? I BELIEVE IT IS A BIOGRAPHY WITHOUT ENDING FOR THIS PERSON LIMITING EVERYTHING ? WHY? is something against the community? the matter? in favor of the military censorship ? I truly do not know what to think...( i do not want also to create a wrong situation), probably that person is right and I am wrong...

PLEASE DEV920 see by yourself and let me know if I am wrong...but if I am right, please help me to restore or at least to complete this unfinished biography. ( Now, this person in Wikipedia is trying to accuse me of being "close" to the subject of the article, probably is his intention to remove it completely ?). As I said, I wish i meet Jorge in person ( he left 40 years ago!). I just an admire of this public person that merits an article about his biography.

Please see below the entire paragraphs that have been removed ! ALSO have been removed the category: Category:LGBT rights activists from the United States when jorge perez evelyn is an activist !! with a link to the GLAAD site showing his complaints to the president!! Please I anxiously wait for your response. I hope you understand I feel very frustrated. god bless and thank youRagazzodeitalia (talk) 17:25, 7 September 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Dirty War in Argentina

[edit]

One evening, after theater hours, Jorge was sited next to the famous comedian Alberto Olmedo during the dinner celebration of the Sans Souci musical opening. Alberto, enthusiastic with the Jorge character of Evelyn, seriously wanted to share the starring of a comedian movie with him. A week later, Jorge signed the contract for a comedian film that was supposed to be called “Mi Novia el Travesty” (My girlfriend, the travesty)... [1]The infamous censure imposed by the military Dirty War[2] governing the country in that sad period of Argentina politic situation, did not allow to the movie use the world “travesty” in its name, and the movie ended up with the name “Mi novia el...”, [3](He is my girlfriend)... As a result, the happiness of Jorge Perez Evelyn did not last. As soon as the military censor found out that the “girlfriend” was being represented by Jorge, and his portrayal of EVELYN...[4]The censor screamed in loud voice that "no male can be acting dressed as a women in the movie"!! (But he allowed to Susana Gimenez to dress as a male during the movie)...

The whole situation made Jorge feel persecuted, depressed and deeply discriminated by his country Argentina, that he decided as many others did, to leave the country. It created on him a bad mental disorder and many years of psychologist's long visits to understand the culture of his country. Jorge always said that after his experience, he understood all the suffering that Josephine Baker has been through when she was discriminated by her own country for being black.

He always said that being gay and performing in stage as women during the military dictator government was a motive of political and police persecution strongly influenced by the religion, and many times gay people being registered in the police with a 2nd H, a code that meant “prostitution” in Argentina. It also was a reason to be incarcerated. It was repealed in the late 1998.

In 1982, Joaquin Riviera, the famous choreographer of the Tropicana Club of Habana, Cuba, couldn't resist having Jorge in his clan composed by a mix of miss universes and famous actors, singers and dancers. He brought Jorge to starring a show that lasted for a full year season. Is like this that Venezuela widely opened its doors to JORGE with enormous admiration for his artistic talent. He was the front cover of several magazines and endless pages of magazines and newspapers commenting about his unlimited talent.

Career

[edit]

The manager of the Scala of Barcelona where impressed with Evelyn and his musical, that a new production named NOCHE DE GALA was the second musical of Jorge and his character of Evelyn in Caracas. This musical revue was directed by Eric Zepeda, Argentinian choreographer of Nelida Roca. Nelida was a very close friend of Jorge.

A tour for all over Latin America was followed by the musical in Caracas. Libertad Leblanc an Argentinian movie star who is Jorge's friend, suggested to Evelyn do not miss Europe. Libertad screamed to the press in Europe: "soon there will be arriving Evelyn, an stage's artist produced in America, be ready to be enjoy him"[5]...The public, producers and press critics[6] that assisted to the Evelyn Show presentation in Cerebros Music Hall in Madrid, Spain[7], (a presentation just for the press)[8][9], was impressed by jorge stage talent, that a week later he was in the cover of the Magazine Chiss[10]. They called Evelyn to be the successor of the English Actor Danny La Rue[11],and a contract followed the presentation for performing in European cities that lasted for 3 years. EVELYN performed in several Music Halls[12] all over Europe including private millionaire's parties at the Costa del Sol, discothèques and Theatres.

Personal life

[edit]

America have claimed Evelyn back in the 1999's, and after a long tour that lasted several years in Miami, Las Vegas and New York shows, Jorge decided to put an stop at his career and settle in New York City and Long Island, to help develop his life time partner Rodolfo Valentin his career. A chain of hair salons where opened in the New York City and Long Island NY area. As a result, Jorge has turned his former show-business life into an entrepreneur. Jorge Perez currently resides in New York. But Jorge never was able to forget about the military persecution suffered in his country of origin, and he is now pleased of having the possibility to openly expose government mistakes without being afraid of any kind of reprisal thanks to the free of speech that the US constitution guaranty to every citizen. As seen in GLAAD, previously known as the Gay & Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation, in which Jorge is an active member, is helping the organization created for the LGBT people in the media. Jorge has contributed by exposing all the events happening against the LGTB community. Jorge profile in GLAAD[13] clearly shows his criticisms, and latest was a claim to the US President calling to impose North Carolina to transfer a transsexual of name “Kanautica” to a women’s prison. She is currently held in a men's prison and suffering all kind of abuses. Evelyn is in this way through advocacy, helping in the advance of the equality and individual respect that each of the millions and millions of members of the LGBT community around the world deserves. Evelyn have also opened a complain to demand President Trump and all the other governments around the world to condemn the Sultanate of Brunei for all the abuses imposed against the LGTB community that are being killed by stone throwing, just like in the medieval times. Jorge have been appointed by the State as a Public Notary, so now he can help the LGTB community in all their related legal help for free with his contribution as a Notary.

Jorge is constantly manifesting the frustration of not having the opportunity to do the same for his community in his country of origin, back in the military times. Jorge always complains that currently in his country there are well-known people of the LGBT community that are famous personalities of television shows and theaters, as such, are having the opportunity to achieve goals for the LGBT community having openly access to the public. Jorge wishes they are taking the advantage of their public power.
