Hello, I'm Materialscientist. I noticed that in this edit to Indoor athletics at the Asian Indoor and Martial Arts Games, you removed content without adequately explaining why. In the future, it would be helpful to others if you described your changes to Wikipedia with an edit summary. If this was a mistake, don't worry, the removed content has been restored. If you think I made a mistake, or if you have any questions, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Thank you. Materialscientist (talk) 06:56, 2 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]

A tag has been placed on Category:Youth Olympics by year requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section C1 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the category has been empty for seven days or more and is not a disambiguation category, a category redirect, a featured topics category, under discussion at Categories for discussion, or a project category that by its nature may become empty on occasion.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Hello, Dinnerbrone

Welcome to Wikipedia! I edit here too, under the username Andrew nyr, and I thank you for your contributions.

I wanted to let you know, however, that I've proposed an article that you started, List of Youth Olympic venues in aquatics, for deletion because it meets one or more of our deletion criteria, and I don't think that it is suitable for inclusion in the encyclopedia. The particular issue can be found in the notice that is now visible at the top of the article.

If you wish to contest the deletion:

  1. Edit the page
  2. Remove the text that looks like this: {{proposed deletion/dated...}}
  3. Click the Publish changes button.

If you object to the article's deletion, please remember to explain why you think the article should be kept on the article's talk page and improve the page to address the issues raised in the deletion notice. Otherwise, it may be deleted later by other means.

If you have any questions, please leave a comment here and prepend it with {{Re|Andrew nyr}}. And remember to sign your reply with ~~~~. Thanks!

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. An automated process has detected that when you recently edited List of Youth Olympic venues, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Laoshan (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are usually incorrect, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of unrelated topics with similar titles. (Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.)

Cut and paste isn't the way to move an article, as it loses the history. See Wikipedia:Administrators' guide/Fixing cut-and-paste moves. --David Biddulph (talk) 15:27, 15 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Also, the content of your 2026 page is grossly in error. This global replacement of 2022 by 2026 is wrong in most places. Many of the references are broken, and those that work don't say what you've said they say. --David Biddulph (talk) 22:01, 15 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. "Fixing" redirects

[edit]

I notice that you "fixed" a redirect on List of people who have opened the Olympic Games. Please read WP:NOTBROKEN. --David Biddulph (talk) 05:23, 18 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]

An automated process has detected that when you recently edited List of IOC meetings, you added links pointing to the disambiguation pages San Juan, Rugby and Nagano (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver).

Information icon Hi, and thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. It appears that you tried to give 2022 Summer Youth Olympics a different title by copying its content and pasting either the same content, or an edited version of it, into 2026 Summer Youth Olympics. This is known as a "cut-and-paste move", and it is undesirable because it splits the page history, which is legally required for attribution. Instead, the software used by Wikipedia has a feature that allows pages to be moved to a new title together with their edit history.

In most cases, once your account is four days old and has ten edits, you should be able to move an article yourself using the "Move" tab at the top of the page (the tab may be hidden in a dropdown menu for you). This both preserves the page history intact and automatically creates a redirect from the old title to the new. If you cannot perform a particular page move yourself this way (e.g. because a page already exists at the target title), please follow the instructions at requested moves to have it moved by someone else. Also, if there are any other pages that you moved by copying and pasting, even if it was a long time ago, please list them at Wikipedia:Requests for history merge. Thank you. Disputed non-free use rationale for File:Australia–New Zealand 2023 FIFA Women's World Cup bid logo.svg

[edit]

Thank you for uploading File:Australia–New Zealand 2023 FIFA Women's World Cup bid logo.svg. However, there is a concern that the rationale provided for using this file on Wikipedia may not meet the criteria required by Wikipedia:Non-free content. This can be corrected by going to the file description page and adding or clarifying the reason why the file qualifies under this policy. Adding and completing one of the templates available from Wikipedia:Non-free use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your file is in compliance with Wikipedia policy. Please be aware that a non-free use rationale is not the same as an image copyright tag; descriptions for files used under the non-free content policy require both a copyright tag and a non-free use rationale.

If it is determined that the file does not qualify under the non-free content policy, it might be deleted by an administrator seven days after the file was tagged in accordance with section F7 of the criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions, please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you.

This bot DID NOT nominate any file(s) for deletion; please refer to the page history of each individual file for details. Thanks, FastilyBot (talk) 01:00, 13 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Miss Grand International Organization, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G11 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page seems to be unambiguous advertising which only promotes a company, group, product, service, person, or point of view and would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become encyclopedic. Please read the guidelines on spam and Wikipedia:FAQ/Organizations for more information.

Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator. Tagging pages for deletion

[edit]

Hello, Dinnerbrone,

It is not effective to tag a page {{delete}} because you must provide a reason for why you think that a page should be deleted. For speedy deletion, please review Criteria for Speedy Deletion so you can see the acceptable criteria for a page to be speedy deleted.

I encourage you to make use of Twinkle, a program that provides the CSD reasons for you to choose from should you wish to tag a page. The deletion notices on your user talk page were posted using Twinkle. If you have questions, you are welcome to visit the Teahouse and ask the experienced editors there for answers. Liz Read! Hello, Dinnerbrone. It has been over six months since you last edited the Articles for Creation submission or Draft page you started, "Lists of Youth Olympic medalists".

In accordance with our policy that Wikipedia is not for the indefinite hosting of material deemed unsuitable for the encyclopedia mainspace, the draft has been nominated for deletion. If you plan on working on it further, or editing it to address the issues raised if it was declined, simply edit the submission and remove the {{db-afc}}, {{db-draft}}, or {{db-g13}} code.

If your submission has already been deleted by the time you get there, and you wish to retrieve it, you can request its undeletion by following the instructions at this link. An administrator will, in most cases, restore the submission so you can continue to work on it.

File permission problem with File:2021 Asian Indoor and Martial Arts Games Shortlisted Emblems.jpg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:2021 Asian Indoor and Martial Arts Games Shortlisted Emblems.jpg, which you've attributed to Section 7 does not apply.. I noticed that while you provided a valid copyright licensing tag, there is no proof that the creator of the file has agreed to release it under the given license.

If you are the copyright holder for this media entirely yourself but have previously published it elsewhere (especially online), please either

  • make a note permitting reuse under the CC-BY-SA or another acceptable free license (see this list) at the site of the original publication; or
  • Send an email from an address associated with the original publication to permissions-en@wikimedia.org, stating your ownership of the material and your intention to publish it under a free license. You can find a sample permission letter here. If you take this step, add {{OTRS pending}} to the file description page to prevent premature deletion.

If you did not create it entirely yourself, please ask the person who created the file to take one of the two steps listed above, or if the owner of the file has already given their permission to you via email, please forward that email to permissions-en@wikimedia.org.

If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:File copyright tags#Fair use, and add a rationale justifying the file's use on the article or articles where it is included. See Wikipedia:File copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have provided evidence that their copyright owners have agreed to license their works under the tags you supplied, too. You can find a list of files you have created in your upload log. Files lacking evidence of permission may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described in section F11 of the criteria for speedy deletion. You may wish to read Wikipedia's image use policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Paul_012 (talk) 16:50, 17 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Non-free reduce template use

[edit]

Hi Dinnerbrone. Please try and add the template {{Non-free reduce}} only to non-free files. For some reason, you added it to File:Youth Olympic Games Third Version.svg, which in turn led to the file being mistaken for non-free by a bot that led to quite a bit of confusion. If you want to reduce a file (free or non-free), you can do so yourself. If you want to someone else to reduce it for you and the file is not non-free, try asking for help at WP:GL. For reference, although non-free files are required to be reduce to a certain size by policy, freely licensed and public domain files aren't. In addition, if you're sure that a file is freely licensed or within the public domain both under US copyright law and the copyright laws of the country of first publication, you should probably upload the file to Wikimedia Commons instead of Wikipedia. Doing so will make the file much easier to use and Commons has no problems with high resolution large file sizes. -- Marchjuly (talk) 20:57, 20 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Muay or Muay Thai

[edit]

Hi, you redirected lots of pages of this sport which is against wikipedia rules. if you think a page must be moved to another name, you should simply ask for a move. copy pasting the entire article is against the rules. beside that OCA still uses the word Muay Source I don't think they ever changed the sport's name. even if they did here in wikipedia people usually use the current name for all articles. for example Sailing used to be called Yachting. I'm going to revert all your Muay/Muaythai edits for the reasons I expalined first. if you disagree with that you should ask for a move. and please if you do it, do it for all Muay articles. I like consistency. Sports2021 (talk) 20:54, 29 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]

and since you didn't read the rules. check this one, read the bold part Do not move or rename a page by copying/pasting its content. Sports2021 (talk) 20:57, 29 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]
and another thing, you claim the sport renamed from Muay to Muaythai from 2017 !! but from what I see IFMA was being called IFMA (International Federation of Muaythai) even back in 2008. Sports2021 (talk) 21:21, 29 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Muay has been official name of the sports until 2017 editions (Ashgabat 2017). Muay is the alternative name of muaythai, by deleting the world of "thai", for avoiding the dispute of Mainland Southeast Asia martial arts between Southeast Asian nations. Please read these references especially "Minutes of the 6th Meeting of the SEAGF Office Working Group" that discussed about the name of muaythai and muay, the news in Thai language about the dispute the name of muaythai, and some of the OCA sports handbooks or OCA documents that use the world of muay insted of muaythai.[1][2][3][4][5] --Dinnerbrone (talk) 07:39, 30 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]
In summary, muaythai is the official name of the sport that is recognized by International World Games Association since 2013 and International Olympic Committee, since 2016.[6][7][8] However, there is a dispute between Southeast Asian nations, especially Laos, Myanmar, and Cambodia that have similar sports called Muay Lao, Lethwei, and Bokator, about IFMA using the world of "thai" in the sport. If the SEAGF or OCA uses the name of muaythai, these countries will not participate. (I found it from the Thai news that I mentioned before) There are only two editions that use the name of muaythai in the OCA events, that are Asian Beach Games 2014, and AIMAG 2017, these countries did not participate.--Dinnerbrone (talk) 08:01, 30 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]
In according to the Association of IOC Recognised International Sports Federations[9], Muaythai, Muay, Muay Boxing, Thai Kickboxing, Muay Boran, Muay Aerobic, and Wai Kru are the name of sports that are governed by IFMA, so you can use Muay or Muaythai for the article depended on the official document from the organizing committee in each edition. In according to the Olympic Council of Asia constitution (Chapter 3, Article 73)[10], it uses the name of Muay instead of Muaythai. However, its webpage uses both Muay and Muaythai (Same webpage that you mentioned before!!!!![11]) and Doccuments of ABG2014[12] & AIMAG2017[13] & AIMAG2021[14] use Muaythai instead of Muay. In according to SEAGF charter and Minutes of the 6th Meeting of the SEAGF Office Working Group[15][16], it use Muay and it discussed the name of Muay and Muaythai and decided to use Muay since SEA Games 2007 in Nakhon Ratchasima, Thailand. --Dinnerbrone (talk) 08:35, 30 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]
and another thing, why the Wikipedia didn't use the artistic swimming in all Olympic articles on synchronized swimming like sailing (yachting) and artistic swimming Asian Games articles that you contributed. The name of the article should rely on the official references, not someone's opinion. --Dinnerbrone (talk) 08:49, 30 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Can't you answer simple questions instead of writing statements? there is no source that IFMA officially changed the name from Muay to Muaythai exactly in 2017. if there is a source show it. OCA simply randomly uses both names, there is no official change. Sports2021 (talk) 14:06, 30 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]
You also should revert your own edit here Muaythai at the 2017 World Games you can't move or rename a page by copying/pasting its content and then ask for a move separately. Sports2021 (talk) 14:40, 30 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]
I wrote the organizing committee use muaythai instead of muay in 2017 edition (in Ashgabat Games for AIAMAG) not imply that IFMA change its name in 2017. Muay is the alternative name of muaythai so Myanmar, Laos, and Cambodia can participate in the games, especially SEA Games. But since 2016 that IFMA is recognized by IOC, the organizing committee of the OCA events use muaythai instead of muay!!! --Dinnerbrone (talk) 15:56, 30 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]
That's not a source confirming someone officially changed the name. IFMA always used the term muaythai. there are several sources confirming that. this whole "they changed the name in 2017" is non-existent. Sports2021 (talk) 16:12, 30 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]
AIMAG2017 Sports Handbook from the OCA is not officially for you? You cannot imply it? I mentioned before (from ARISF source) that Muaythai and Muay can be used interchangeably. Before AIMAG2017, the organizing committees of all editions used the name of muay throughout.--Dinnerbrone (talk) 16:25, 30 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Seriously ? can't you understand what I'm asking? show me a source that OCA or IFMA officially confirming changing the name. OCA randomly uses different words. they still use Muay in their website. and it seems you have no intention to revert your rule-breaking move. so I will do it myself. Sports2021 (talk) 16:38, 30 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]
The name of this sport has never been changed by IFMA since its establishment. Because Muaythai is the same sound as "มวยไทย" in Thai language. "Muay Thai or Muaythai (มวยไทย)" means Thai boxing by adding the word of Thai in order to refer that this sport is from Thailand and not confused with boxing (governed by IBA). (Muay is the same sound and meaning of "ມວຍ" in the Laotian language) But the name Muaythai was opposed by Myanmar, Laos, and Cambodia because they have similar sports. You can see that Laos has the similar sport and name (Because Laotian is similar to Thai). Its name is Muay Lao. If the organizing committee used the world of "Muaythai" they will not participate. You can see that Myanmar, Laos, and Cambodia send delegates until 2017 (the year that the organizing committee used Muaythai and the IOC was provicially recognized IFMA) While the organizing committee of the OCA events can use the name of Muaythai since 2014 (ABG in Thailand)/2016(ABG in Vietnam)/2017(AIMAG in Turkmenistan), the organizing committee of the SEA Games cannot use the name of Muaythai because Myanmar, Laos, and Cambodia will not send delegates and the minimum delegates will not achieve.--Dinnerbrone (talk) 17:11, 30 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]
If you understand the Thai language, I hope you will not need a source about the name. Muay Thai is not just a sport, but it is an art and culture. Myanmar, Laos, Cambodia, and Thailand have a common culture. They disputed everything in the culture. The use of Muay is the best way in the earliest stage, but today Muaythai is popular because it recognized by IOC, FISU and included in World Games, European Games, and AIMAG, and will include in Asian Games 2034 in Saudi Arabia (This news is from the president of Saudi NOC when he visited Thailand this year)--Dinnerbrone (talk) 17:11, 30 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Today there are no IFMA members from Myanmar, Laos, and Cambodia, although they have many greatest athletes in muaythai. Member from Asia--Dinnerbrone (talk) 17:11, 30 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]
I recommended that we should not change the name from muay to muaythai in these articles, also synchronized swimming and yachting that you contributed. The use of Muay, synchronized swimming, and yachting will show the histories of these sports, so the younger generation can appreciate them.--Dinnerbrone (talk) 17:11, 30 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]

2029 in Saudi Arabian sport

[edit]

If you're using templates to automatically create categories such as Category:2029 in Saudi Arabian sport, then can you please also make sure that you also create any of its parent categories that are still red links? Content cannot be left sitting in categories that don't exist, and there's enough clutter on Special:WantedCategories to clean up as it is, without having to leave template-generated categories sitting there because they're impossible to remove and I don't have the necessary expertise in the subject area to create them myself -- so you need to ensure that anytime you create any new category, you also create any and all necessary parent categories that don't already exist yet as well. An article you recently created, 2022 Asian Youth Athletics Championships, is not suitable as written to remain published. It needs citations from reliable, independent sources. (?) Information that can't be referenced should be removed (verifiability is of central importance on Wikipedia). I've moved your draft to draftspace (with a prefix of "Draft:" before the article title) where you can incubate the article with minimal disruption. When you feel the article meets Wikipedia's general notability guideline and thus is ready for mainspace, please click on the "Submit your draft for review!" button at the top of the page. -MPGuy2824 (talk) 10:30, 15 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]

A tag has been placed on Category:FIVB Men's Volleyball Intercontinental Olympic Qualification Tournaments indicating that it is currently empty, and is not a disambiguation category, a category redirect, a featured topics category, under discussion at Categories for discussion, or a project category that by its nature may become empty on occasion. If it remains empty for seven days or more, it may be deleted under section C1 of the criteria for speedy deletion.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself. Liz Read!
