Contested deletion

[edit]

This page should not be speedy deleted as an unambiguous copyright infringement, because... (it has information on a book that has not have an article. It gives a link to a reference about the plot of the book. Not anything of the link's words or anything else have been removed.) --Don'tletthepigeonfan (talk) 18:24, 1 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Welcome to Wikipedia. Yes, but you copied the words from Barnes and Noble's web-site. That is a copyright violation. Wikipedia cannot host copyright material anywhere, not even in user pages or sandboxes. Please read Wikipedia:Copy-paste for the reasons why you must not copy material into Wikipedia. I know you gave a reference to the source site, but that is not enough to prevent a breach of copyright except for short quotations.
Below I will give you a Welcome message with some more links to useful advice. JohnCD (talk) 18:37, 1 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Yes, you can write it in your own words, but
  • Take care to make it quite different - just altering a few words is not enough.
  • Don't do it on your user page - that is for you to say a little about yourself and your Wikipedia activities, if you like. Do it in a "sandbox" page at User:Don'tletthepigeonfan/sandbox.
  • Read WP:Your first article for advice, and if you are interested in writing about books read WP:WAF.

Click "My preferences" at the top of the screen, and on the "User profile" tab, just under your details, there is a "Change password" link. JohnCD (talk) 15:53, 5 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Hello Don'tletthepigeonfan. It has been over six months since you last edited your WP:AFC draft article submission, entitled "I Am Invited to a Party!".

The page will shortly be deleted. If you plan on editing the page to address the issues raised when it was declined and resubmit it, simply edit the submission and remove the {{db-afc}} or {{db-g13}} code. Please note that Articles for Creation is not for indefinite hosting of material deemed unsuitable for the encyclopedia mainspace.

If your submission has already been deleted by the time you get there, and you want to retrieve it, copy this code: {{subst:Refund/G13|Wikipedia talk:Articles for creation/I Am Invited to a Party!}}, paste it in the edit box at this link, click "Save", and an administrator will in most cases undelete the submission.

Thanks for your submission to Wikipedia, and happy editing. Rankersbo (talk) 12:56, 16 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]
