Let me be the first to welcome you and commend you on your enthusiasm and ability to follow instructions. The Wikipedia mantra is BE BOLD. For me at least, just making an account took a great deal of courage. The next logical step in your Wikipedia indoctrination is to energize your home page. It will serve as an excellent place to learn some of the basic wiki-codes without dorking up an article. Editing skills will require some experimentation and self teaching. The easiest way to start is to visit others and “steal” some ideas. By that - I mean click the edit tab and see their html codes which you can copy and paste into yours. CAREFUL --- don’t edit their page…. COPY not cut!!!!! You can then adjust it to reflect your own personal style. Feel free to be creative. Try to provide some insight into who you are while still maintaining your Anonymity. Personally I like the community’s use of user boxes to provide some insight into your way of thinking. --JimmyButler (talk) 01:48, 27 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Welcome to Wikipedia. You will find a surprising amount of support for your class project. Don't worry too much about the details of Wikipedia...just add good reliable content...which is far harder to do than endless formatting! Cheers! Wassupwestcoast (talk) 02:44, 27 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Nice Job on making it your own. I am glad you felt at ease to use my main page, but I noticed you didn't use everything! If you want, feel free to use all my information and edit it to fit you! Hey, its how I got my page! Any who, great work on making it individual and unique - I see you understand how to change link directions and things like text color (It took me about half an hour to get it down too). If you need help though just stop by my talk page and leave a message, I will be glad to help! FoodPuma (talk) 03:39, 30 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Duckhunter92. Yes I will assist you in your project. I'm sorry to say that I might not have that much time to help and you might have to wait a few days before I answer but I will do my best. To start with I suggest that you read 3 pages, WP:FISH this is the fish project that helps you find out how a fish page should look like, and then WP:SHARK which is specifically for sharks, there are help for where to find information and what to include in those two pages and their sub pages. Finally I want you to read Oceanic whitetip shark which is the only WP:FA shark article and see what a good shark page should look like. Whale shark and Tiger shark are good articles also good for your reference. Good luck, if you have any questions just ask. --Stefan talk 03:56, 15 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

OK, I will help with any shark article. --Stefan talk 16:01, 16 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hi!

Nice first update to Shortfin mako shark! I updated the use of the reference code a bit, see my edit. The ref name is just for you to use inside the page, it is never seen outside the editing window, so it is easier if it is short. Also since it is used like this you can use the same cite tag many times, so you do not need to add it the second time. I put in the publisher, which is good info and the access date, the access date is also very good to have to show WHEN you read the page, maybe it have been updated since then. --Stefan talk 06:14, 2 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

First what you did was correct. Secondly it could have been done in a nicer and easier way. So what you did was to create one marker (ref name) and defined it (the first time) and used it the next time, but you also defined it the second time with the same data again. This makes it confusing and if someone where to change it nothing would happen (or maybe the first one was not used I'm not sure). So my way is better and easier but what you did was correct. Not sure what you ask about the same ref in two places?? That is what you did! That was the reason why it was confusing. --Stefan talk 00:32, 6 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Some comments on the latest updates

[edit]

Hi!

Some comments on your latest updates [1]. You need to rewrite the text from the reference to more fit into a encyclopedia, make the language easier to understand, now it is hard to figure out what you mean with e.g. this "The shortfin’s aggressive behavior could be responsible for fisherman reporting that these sharks have released from the fishing lines and then proceed to bully the ones on the boat." sentence and I fixed this edit. Also try to fit the text in better, now you added the high body temperature in a new place while it is already mentioned in the same section. --Stefan talk 12:14, 4 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I will review, but I'm not really sure what to do, am I supposed to help you edit or not, if you where not part of a school project I would have rewritten what you did in your last edit, since I though it was good and referenced data that was good to have in the article, but I did not like the language. I think my role is mor supposed to tell you what to do instead of doing it myself, so that is why I made my comment. As for making anyone mad, I will do my best, but no promises :-) --Stefan talk 07:29, 6 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Firstly, I will probably not be online much during the weekend and will be very busy next week, secondly this is wikipedia, and I will still give comments or fix things that is wrong, no matter what your teacher says, do not worry :-). Good luck. --Stefan talk 00:21, 13 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]
