July 2023

[edit]

Information icon Thank you for your contributions. One of your recent contributions to Million Dollar Extreme has been reverted or removed, because it contains speculative or unconfirmed information about a future event. Please only add material about future events if it is verifiable, based on a reliable source. This is non-negotiable, a neutral and uninvolved source is required. Retweets from an unconfirmed social media account (about a project with no neutral RS's itself) do not fulfill that requirement. Nate (chatter) 16:26, 2 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]

What neutral and uninvolved source states that Charls is a former member? As well, by what standards is the social media account unconfirmed when it is linked on his own website? DvcDeBlvngis (talk) 16:38, 2 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]
A performer's own website is promotional and not allowed. Please read WP:RS and understand it fully. Nate (chatter) 20:06, 2 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]
By what means is it promotional? According to WP:RS would fall under WP:SELFSOURCE DvcDeBlvngis (talk) 20:30, 2 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Take a look for yourself!

And if you're looking for other juicy places to edit, consider expanding a stub, adopting a cleanup category, or participating in one of our current formal discussions.

Feel free to say hi on my talk page and let me know if these links were helpful (or at least interesting). Hope to see you around. czar 10:47, 10 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Name of ESN

[edit]

Hi, In line with WP:BRD, since you made your change (when removing "the") and it was reverted (by me, with a source), please refrain from changing again, and instead start a discussion in the talk page. Maybe I'm wrong, but any further change would need to be discussed and supported. Thanks! Julius Schwarz (talk) 15:02, 16 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, Julius Schwarz! While one of the sources you linked does say "The Europe of Sovereign Nations," that does not seem to be their legal name. Here[1] we can see it says "The ESN party" only in the context of the party as an entity, and here[2] it says the legal name is "Europe of Sovereign Nations", and here[3] you can see it simply says "ESN Party." Nothing about this says that the name of the group is "The Europe of Sovereign Nations." The official EU application page lists them as simply "Europe of Sovereign Nations."[4] DvcDeBlvngis (talk) 15:11, 16 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I'm not sure I follow your arguments. Obviously, the legal name does not include the "the" and, when the name is filled into a form, the article is not included -- but that goes for all European parties, as you can see in the last link you shared. However, in English, when using the full name in a sentence, they almost all use an article. The question is perhaps more pertinent for acronyms and, there, it more of an ad hoc situation: it's "the EPP", but it's "ALDE"; it's the "PES", but it's (was) "ID". Julius Schwarz (talk) 20:20, 16 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Because on those pages, the article is included when referring to the party in specific. For example, ID starts with "The Identity and Democracy Party" because it is specifically the Party. If it was simply "Identity and Democracy" then you would not call it "The Identity and Democracy." Currently, the ESN page reads, "The Europe of Sovereign Nations," which is incorrect grammatically because one would only include the article when specifying the party. That is why you have "the EPP" and "the PES", because those groups have Party in their name. "The European People's Party" and "The Party of European Socialists." The abbreviation of ESN does not include the word Party, ergo, it would simply be "ESN", and thus, unless the lede reads "The Europe of Sovereign Nations Party" there would be no purpose in including the article, ergo, it would simply be "Europe of Sovereign Nations". DvcDeBlvngis (talk) 21:02, 16 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I remain highly unconvinced and you have yet to provide supporting sources. Short of this, and to get out of this deadlock, please discuss this on the talk page of the article. Julius Schwarz (talk) 05:48, 18 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]
