Orphaned non-free media (File:WillowWood School 154 Logo.png)

[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:WillowWood School 154 Logo.png. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'file' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. Hazard-Bot (talk) 04:20, 11 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Hulse, Playfair & McGarry, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G11 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page seems to be unambiguous advertising which only promotes a company, product, group, service or person and would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become encyclopedic. Please read the guidelines on spam and Wikipedia:FAQ/Organizations for more information.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, you can place a request here. ...William 16:47, 21 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]

  • The original version of the article was not promotional. Another editor added some questionable text, which I have now removed. When an article covers a notable topic, it is better to deal with non-neutral text by editing the article rather than tagging it for speedy deletion. Hickory Springs Entry

[edit]

Dear Eastmain: I am new to using Wikipedia as an editor, so I hope this is the right approach to take with this, but I was hoping you might be able to offer some assistance with the Hickory Springs article. It's currently userfied under your name and as I understand it, just needs to have a few more citations and it will be good to go to the main site.

In the interest of full disclosure, I do work for their marketing agency which I know presents a conflict of interest. If you would be willing, I would like to work with you to develop something more complete than is currently there but remains objective and meets the criteria so the page is both accurate and well-cited. I promise to refrain from any market speak.

I feel that if you have the ultimate control over the article's destiny, my conflict would be mitigated. I'm open to other suggestions, too. I know that Hickory Springs is worthy of an entry and I just want to find the best way to make that happen. Thanks in advance for your help with this!!

Dear uploader: The media file you uploaded as:

is missing a description and/or other details on its image description page. If possible, please add this information. This will help other editors make better use of the image, and it will be more informative to readers.

If the information is not provided, the image may eventually be proposed for deletion, a situation which is not desirable, and which can easily be avoided.

If you have any questions, please see Help:Image page. Thank you. Theo's Little Bot (error?) 10:44, 14 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Pending release of Notifications

[edit]

Hey Eastmain :). I'm dropping you a note because you have signed up for the Notifications, or Echo, newsletter.

If all goes according to plan, we should be launching Echo on en-wiki either tomorrow, or next Tuesday - I'll drop a followup tomorrow when we know what's happening. Should the launch succeed, we'll begin the process of triaging bugs and gathering feedback on what features work, what cause problems, and what we should do next; I hope you'll help us out on these fronts by leaving any comments you might have on the talkpage.

Hi from a Newbie ... Just a note to say I'm overwhelmed by the structure and complexity of the contribution / edit process ... but with enough time maybe I can find my way through the forest. I requested creation of an entry for East Gallatin Recreaion Area because now is about the 25th anniversary of when it started taking shape and it is evolving into a heavily used area. (I was a member of the original EGRA Task Force.) I'm drafting an article on my own laptop to paste into Wikipedia when I create enough content. Just letting you know why there is no content at the moment. Suggestions welcome. Hickory Springs delete and replace with HSM?

[edit]

Eastmain: I am working with an agency to source this company's references properly. The company has been through a lot of changes, so I'm suggesting that the page under the company's old name (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User:Eastmain/Hickory_Springs) be deleted and the sandbox content at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User:Swisswiss/sandbox be moved to namespace to replace it. Thanks for your help.

I've reverted your edit - there is no evidence that the image belongs to the uploader. The EXIF data has been edited to add a copyright notice, after it has been used in at least 2 other places on the web. We cannot therefore be sure that this is not an illegal copy of the current web image.  Ronhjones  (Talk) 23:16, 25 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Addition to NARCOA article?

[edit]

I noticed you added a sentence and two references to this article about a rail car excursion last month in Colorado? What makes this excursion notable? The organization hosts dozens of these a year, there is nothing special about this one compared to any other. Don't see how it meets the notability criteria or is suitable as encyclopedic content. Thanks, Dhpage (talk) 19:29, 14 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]

I am afraid it is promotional. It was created by someone with an admitted COI (see his TP) and has thus already been deleted as such. Having recreated the article and not made any other contributions, the user has also been reported as a promotion-only account. Harry the Dog WOOF 08:48, 22 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Your monkeying with Lardoglyphus zacheri

[edit]
  1. G13 is a nomination for speedy deletion on grounds that the draft article is stale.
  2. The draft was declined multiple years ago for poor quality sources
  3. You effectively substituted your own evaluation without any improvement. so you effectively say that the previous review was wrong
  4. You moved the page into article space without removing the G13 nomination

For these reasons I ask that you be more careful and considerate of the AfC and CSD processes. Hasteur (talk) 14:05, 17 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]

  • The previous assessment was incorrect. The references were acceptable. Annals of the Entomological Society of America appears to be a reputable and long-establised scientific journal. I had removed the speedy tag at 14:01, which was earlier than the timestamp on your message.
  • The problem with deleting stale submissions is that some assessments will inevitably be incorrect, and other submissions can be easily improved to the point where they become acceptable. For a community or former community in the United States, for example, checking GNIS will usually result in a reference that will be enough to establish notability. Trying to salvage a potentially notable submission is not "monkeying". Eastmain (talkcontribs) 14:16, 17 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]
"An article that had potential 6 months ago, has potential now, and probably will have potential in the future will be re-created if it is truly notable". You should have removed the G13 prior to the page being accepted into mainspace as the admin would then have to figure out what the hell is going on with the nomination. Doing steps out of order is monkeying around with a page. Hasteur (talk) 14:22, 17 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Roslyn Elementary School merger with school board page

[edit]

That would not be a good idea as the school board is fairly new (since the late 80's) relative to the existence of the elementary school early 1900's. There have also been a number of school boards overseeing the school over the decades.

The school should maintain a stand along page with links to the managing school board, not a merger of topics. (Nuwhr19 (talk) 01:41, 25 September 2013 (UTC))[reply]
