Sea Gate Police

Why did someone take down the Sea Gate Police patch and description of the dept? The officers of that dept take pride in their work and community! Yet always downplayed of their status and importance!! — Preceding unsigned comment added by Allmighty1911 (talkcontribs) 02:37, 2 January 2020 (UTC)

Kingsbridge Road (NYWB) Article

Hello, how's it going?

I was wondering if you would be able to assist me in creating page articles for still standing abandoned NYW&B railway stations? The first one on the project is Kingsbridge Road, and I would be grateful if you could take a look at it/edit it and gave me your opinion on it, the page article is in my sandbox page. Thanks! FlushingLocal (talk) 00:10, 8 January 2020 (UTC)

FlushingLocal, Hey. I think DanTD or Kew Gardens 613 may know more about that particular station. Generally, the article is all right so far, but needs more reliable sources. epicgenius (talk) 01:13, 8 January 2020 (UTC)

UCLAgirl623, hey, thanks for sending me an email, I appreciate it. I hope you don't mind if I reply here instead, since it doesn't seem to be a particularly sensitive matter.
For the article Pixar Pal-A-Round, I would suggest expanding the "description" section a little. I'd also add some information about the early history, and if possible, any special features of the wheel. You should only add information with reliable sources, though. When you're finished, you could check the article over, both to resolve any grammar errors and to make sure that the text is presented with a neutral point of view (e.g. no advertising). Hope that helps. epicgenius (talk) 01:46, 2 January 2020 (UTC)
UCLAgirl623, in regards to reliable sources, you may want to replace city-data.com. It is now a blacklisted source due to being unreliable. You may want to look into whether there are also any third-party sources (i.e. not amusement park-related). epicgenius (talk) 13:35, 7 January 2020 (UTC)
I removed the city-data source. The Wonder Wheel part is mentioned in the Yesterland source regarding the Sun Wheel (ref #4). --UCLAgirl623 (Whats up!) 19:48, 8 January 2020 (UTC)
UCLAgirl623, I think Yesterland is a good source, so you could keep it. I was wondering more along the lines of newspaper articles. epicgenius (talk) 19:51, 8 January 2020 (UTC)

The article have some newspaper sources like Mercury News, Orange County Register, Los Angeles Times. UCLAgirl623 (Whats up!) 20:05, 8 January 2020 (UTC)

UCLAgirl623, that's good. If you want to expand the article, I was thinking you can look for other sources as well. Also any books, if they're available. epicgenius (talk) 20:06, 8 January 2020 (UTC)
Do you think this source would be a good one as a review for the ride [1]? Or would it be better if I used another source instead? The article might include a "reception" section. --UCLAgirl623 (Whats up!) 22:52, 8 January 2020 (UTC)
UCLAgirl623, that might be an OK source, but there are definitely better sources out there. epicgenius (talk) 23:19, 8 January 2020 (UTC)

Response about the C train article

What the hell are you talking about? The R32 article says almost the same exact speculation and you're bitching about me doing the same thing? Make up your mind. 69.116.186.25 (talk) 18:17, 10 January 2020 (UTC)

I have just removed the speculative content on the R32 article as well. Just because one article contains a speculative statement does not mean that you are allowed to add that speculation to another article, especially without reliable sources. epicgenius (talk) 18:20, 10 January 2020 (UTC)
The "R211s replacing the R32s" statement is a generalized one. No one said anything about the R211s replace the R32s on the C. There's a difference. 69.116.186.25 (talk) 18:21, 10 January 2020 (UTC)
Even the R211 article order states that it will replace what's left of the remaining R32s in the early-mid 2020s. Let me guess...you're going to revert all mentioning of the R32s in the R211 article too? You Wikipedians are very hypocritical, I swear to god... 69.116.186.25 (talk) 18:26, 10 January 2020 (UTC)
I will remove that too unless we have a source for this. epicgenius (talk) 18:28, 10 January 2020 (UTC)
"Despite this, however, the C train's fleet has not been impacted, as virtually all R32s will remain in service until the upcoming R211 order in the early-mid 2020s." This implies that R32s will continue to be on the C train's fleet until their retirement. We can't say this definitely, so it's better to exclude it, unless we have a reliable source about the C train's future fleet as well. epicgenius (talk) 18:26, 10 January 2020 (UTC)
How come I can't edit the R32 and R211 articles? I'm trying to check the sources before you even attempt to revert them... 69.116.186.25 (talk) 18:31, 10 January 2020 (UTC)
The pages are protected from editing due to vandalism in the past. I found a source for the R211s: https://www.villagevoice.com/2017/12/04/subway-cars-will-get-wider-doors-by-2020-everyone-rejoice/, but we can't add the R211s to the C train article, for the reasons I just mentioned. epicgenius (talk) 18:32, 10 January 2020 (UTC)

Luís de Matos

Good morning, I noticed you discussed in the past issues with the entry Luís de Matos. I did some cleanup and sourcing but am not sure whether this is enough for removing the tags. There is still an unusually long list of awards, tours, etc. Thank you for having a look there. I am new to Wikipedia and would benefit from your guidance. Accidental Sociologist (talk) 15:48, 11 January 2020 (UTC)

Good morning to you too, Accidental Sociologist. I haven't edited this page in over 6 years, but taking a look at the page now, it looks in much better shape than when I last viewed it. The biography section has good sourcing, but you should look into finding more sources for the "Television", "Tours", and "Releases" sections. The wording is better as well, though there are still several sentences that need to be improved, such as "In 1995 Luis de Matos baffled the Portuguese public..." Overall, I think you can remove the first tag, but suggest keeping the second tag. epicgenius (talk) 16:00, 11 January 2020 (UTC)

Thank you. I will remove the first tag. As for the second, finding all the sources for the sections "Television", "Tours", and "Releases" may not be easy, but I will try. Accidental Sociologist (talk) 15:52, 13 January 2020 (UTC)

96th Street IRT Station

Sorry. I didn't realize you had just added the category or I would have given a better edit summary. Unless I've misunderstood the category, the 96th IRT station paid areas aren't disconnected. --regentspark (comment) 21:29, 14 January 2020 (UTC)

RegentsPark, that's fine. I don't mind my edits being reverted if they are incorrect. Turns out I misinterpreted this as 86th Street. epicgenius (talk) 21:40, 14 January 2020 (UTC)

I don't see how Category:Paid area disconnected railway stations and Category:New York City Subway stations with disconnected paid areas are worthwhile categories. The presence or lack of a free crossover is worth noting in the articles, but it's not an important characteristic to categorize on. (Would we have categories based on the number of headhouses, or the length of the platforms? I sure hope not.) Pi.1415926535 (talk) 04:31, 15 January 2020 (UTC)

@Pi.1415926535: I'm not really seeing the problem here. These are simply categories based on a common trait, and the latter is meant as a tracking category. BTW, I did not create the first category, and I created the second one to encompass NYC Subway stations that were in the first one. epicgenius (talk) 15:36, 15 January 2020 (UTC)
It's not a trait worth categorizing on, in my opinion. Especially given the amount of effort it would take to propagate the categorization scheme to the sheer number of paid-area stations out there. I hope you won't be offended that I'm going to take it to CfD to get a wider opinion. Pi.1415926535 (talk) 04:43, 16 January 2020 (UTC)

OMNY Stations

Would it violate the policy if I were to add a point-of-information on individual stations stops (ie: Grand Central, Times Square, etc) noting whether or not the subway station was OMNY compatible? — Preceding unsigned comment added by NewYorker27 (talkcontribs) 00:59, 19 January 2020 (UTC)

While you're making these article titles more concise, great if you want to do something similar for the non-RC churches in Category:Churches in Staten Island. —173.68.139.31 (talk) 22:26, 17 January 2020 (UTC)

Thanks for alerting me. Looks like there are other pages of the sort in Category:Churches in Brooklyn and Category:Churches in the Bronx. I will do these shortly. epicgenius (talk) 22:36, 17 January 2020 (UTC)

Brooklyn Bridge edits

Thank you for your recent edits. I have a question. Why did you change my citation from www.fultonhistory.com to www.nytimes.com? If you do not pay for a New York Times subscription, you do not see the article (which is my case), whereas Fultonhistory is free. I appreciate your feedback. Greg Henderson 05:34, 24 January 2020 (UTC)

@Greghenderson2006: Thanks for the comment. The New York Times archive should be freely accessible through 1923, even without a subscription, but with a limited number of articles available for view per month. However, you can reset this by clearing your cookies. So, in this case, the article from 1879 should be accessible even without a subscription. Fultonhistory.com is freely accessible, but generally unpredictable since the site operator takes it offline for maintenance frequently. I could change the link back to fultonhistory.com if you want, though. epicgenius (talk) 13:32, 24 January 2020 (UTC)

Your removal of bolded edits that refer to NYC subway routes

I noticed you have been reverting bolded edits that refer to NYC subway routes (ex. N train to N train), why is that? Just curious. Jemorie (talk) 03:07, 28 January 2020 (UTC)

Jemorie, in the case of subway station and line articles, there was an agreement a while back that only the station names need to be bolded, per the Manual of Style. This isn't the case with subway service articles themselves, though. epicgenius (talk) 03:38, 28 January 2020 (UTC)
Unrelated, someone at the R160 article has vandalized the "Services assigned" box thingy. I don't know to change it back to normal. Please help address. Jemorie (talk) 05:33, 28 January 2020 (UTC)
Jemorie, I'm not sure exactly which services need to be fixed. The relevant template is Template:NYCS const, but the code may be quite complex. epicgenius (talk) 13:33, 28 January 2020 (UTC)

F Train

Can I have a second opinion from you on this back and forth? Cards84664 (talk) 00:26, 27 January 2020 (UTC)

Cards84664, personally I'm in favor of keeping the status quo (retaining R46 image) for now, as the R46s are still going to be assigned to the F and R for at least the next few months. Maybe Kew Gardens 613 and Mtattrain may disagree. By the way, you should really have created this thread on the talk page earlier in order to avoid violating 3RR. Neither you nor the anonymous user is correct in constantly reverting the image. epicgenius (talk) 01:31, 27 January 2020 (UTC)
@Epicgenius and Cards84664: I would keep it until they are off the F.--Kew Gardens 613 (talk) 02:00, 27 January 2020 (UTC)
@Epicgenius, Cards84664, and Kew Gardens 613:, well, as long as there is an agreement, as I am seeing here, best to leave the R46 F image be until the ERA Bulletin is updated. Looks like the dust has finally been settled. 69.116.186.25 (talk) 00:50, 29 January 2020 (UTC)
It's probably still in dispute. I think Jemorie disagrees on the matter as well (as seen by his recent edits). epicgenius (talk) 00:56, 29 January 2020 (UTC)
Epicgenius, thing is the F is still mostly R160s, even if it has a bit more R46s now. As of late, there are almost no R46s on the F while most of the R's fleet still retains R46s leftover at Jamaica Yard. Jemorie (talk) 20:47, 29 January 2020 (UTC)
Jemorie, we should wait till all R46s are off the F. If I remember correctly, the A still has an image of the R68 even though there is only one R68 consist on the A. epicgenius (talk) 20:54, 29 January 2020 (UTC)
Epicgenius, okay, I understand. Jemorie (talk) 00:35, 30 January 2020 (UTC)
