message about 'disruption'

[edit]

Hey cat. No worries ..l I'm not wasting any more time editing on Wikipedia because even accurate unbiased information gets thrown out and reverted by individuals that either cant or don't read. Most certainly the vast majority of my edits were thrown out in error by somebody that has never baked a loaf of bread in his/her life.

But don't concern yourself with accuracy. seaniz (talk) 16:22, 5 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Courage characters

[edit]

Hi, you recently undid my edit at List of Courage the Cowardly Dog characters, and I'd like to discuss it with you. My edit made two major changes: removing self-referential episode citations and removing one-off character descriptions. I assume by your edit summary that you're mostly concerned with the latter here, so let's take a look at why I made that change. First, it isn't necessary or encyclopedic to include every single character from a series when making a list of characters. Reliable, third-party sources would be hard to find, and the article would become very long very fast. The Courage character list was worked on extensively by a single user last year (a big Courage fan, at that), and most of his work appears to hold up because he had sources, which were just the self-referential ones I tried to remove. The descriptions provided also don't seem to add any actual context that can't be stated on the episodes list page. For example, the Star Maker's description and the episode summary closely match, and the "Charlie Rat" character is so minor I'm surprised someone took the time to write out a paragraph for him (and while I'm on the subject, I thought it was "Mr. Mouse"). Anyway, I hope we can come to some sort of agreement on this. Thanks! Oh, and welcome to WP by the way! I just read your user page and saw that you were new here, and I don't mean to come off as harsh or anything. :) Paper Luigi TC 00:12, 9 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]

You appear to be correct, under WP:DISCRIMINATE. I was just concerned about the sheer amount of content and references you removed. However I believe is for the best, since articles about long running programs would be enormous if they listed one off characters. I seems I have much to learn. Thank you for contacting me about this change.EvilKeyboardCat (talk) 12:24, 10 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Your Feedback request service subscription

[edit]

Hi,

I've spotted FrigidNinja seems to have changed your username on Wikipedia:Feedback request service, which would stop the service working. I'm going to fix it up for you shortly.

Apologies. I had an extension installed, inspired by this xkcd comic, that replaced all instances of the word "keyboard" with "leopard". I didn't even think about what impact that would have on editing. I've disabled the extension now. Sorry for any inconveniences this may have caused. FrigidNinja 19:56, 5 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for your help User:Meand.
User:FrigidNinja Cool, I'm an xkcd fan as well. I didn't know about that extention. I've created a userbox for you to warn people...

Article Feedback Tool update

[edit]

Hey EvilKeyboardCat. I'm contacting you because you're involved in the Article Feedback Tool in some way, either as a previous newsletter recipient or as an active user of the system. As you might have heard, a user recently anonymously disabled the feedback tool on 2,000 pages. We were unable to track or prevent this due to the lack of logging feature in AFT5. We're deeply sorry for this, as we know that quite a few users found the software very useful, and were using it on their articles.

We've now re-released the software, with the addition of a logging feature and restrictions on the ability to disable. Obviously, we're not going to automatically re-enable it on each article—we don't want to create a situation where it was enabled by users who have now moved on, and feedback would sit there unattended—but if you're interested in enabling it for your articles, it's pretty simple to do. Just go to the article you want to enable it on, click the "request feedback" link in the toolbox in the sidebar, and AFT5 will be enabled for that article.

Again, we're very sorry about this issue; hopefully it'll be smooth sailing after this :). If you have any questions, just drop them at the talkpage. Thanks! Okeyes (WMF) 21:33, 1 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Invitation to Adelaide Wikipedia Users Group meetings

[edit]

Hi, in case you're not already aware of it, a group of Adelaide Wikipedians has been meeting on a monthly basis since April, with the aim of improving the scope and quality of articles on South Australian topics. We meet at UniSA's City West campus, and our 23 July meeting will have a guest speaker from the National Trust of SA.

This coming Sunday, 6 July, we will be holding our first Edit-a-thon. This will be an opportunity for new editors to come and learn either basic or more advanced editing from very experienced wikipedians, so if you know anyone who would like to get some practice, please let them know - and beginners will be very welcome. Cheers, Bahudhara (talk) 04:53, 4 July 2014 (UTC)[reply]
