Disputed non-free use rationale for File:NIDa Antigone 2014.jpg

[edit]

Thank you for uploading File:NIDa Antigone 2014.jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale provided for using this file on Wikipedia may not meet the criteria required by Wikipedia:Non-free content. This can be corrected by going to the file description page and adding or clarifying the reason why the file qualifies under this policy. Adding and completing one of the templates available from Wikipedia:Non-free use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your file is in compliance with Wikipedia policy. Please be aware that a non-free use rationale is not the same as an image copyright tag; descriptions for files used under the non-free content policy require both a copyright tag and a non-free use rationale.

If it is determined that the file does not qualify under the non-free content policy, it might be deleted by an administrator within a few days in accordance with our criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions, please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you. Moonriddengirl (talk) 21:41, 13 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]

I've left a comment on your Articles for Creation submission, which can be viewed at Draft:National Institute of Dramatic Art alumni. Thanks! — jmcgnh(talk) (contribs) 07:04, 9 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]

I have tried to submit this for publication twice, and the same user has blocked me both times - first, for lack of citation (even though almost everyone has Wikipedia pages that were linked, which verify their status as alumni), then accused me of bombarding with "Bunch of nonsense references that have little to nothing to do with the subject" when I took the time to source over 100 trustworthy sources verifying their status as alumni/award winners. I left a comment on his user talk page more than 2 weeks ago asking what I can do to resolve this and he (assuming "Sulfurboy" indicates a man) is completely ignoring my query, despite responding to plenty of other people who have commented since. I will acknowledge I am not the most experienced Wikipedia user, so I'm not sure what can be done here, but it doesn't make sense to me that one person can just arbitrarily block the publication of a page for no apparent reason.

I would ask you if you are associated with the NIDA? Some of what you wrote is promotional language("s Australia's leading centre for education and training in the performing arts""). Os there something about the advice you have been given that you do not understand? 331dot (talk) 09:22, 24 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, I work for NIDA and have listed that information on my user profile. However, the promotional language is not the issue (if it is, I am happy to remove it). The reasons he has given for denying the page don't make sense (first that there are no citations when there are dozens of linked Wikipedia pages, then getting mad when I add over 100 independent verifying citations) and even though I asked, he refuses to give me any information for how to address why he is denying my page. It seems like one person can just decide he doesn't like my page and refuse to publish it - surely there is a way to overrule him, if he doesn't have a valid reason?

This request does not specify any administrative action that needs to be taken, so I am closing it. Please use the {{help}} template instead unless you require a specific use of the admin toolset. Yunshui  09:43, 24 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Hello, I have re-opened this because I am requesting administrator assistance regarding this issue. If there is some other way to address the problem, please let me know. As things stand, a user is blocking publication of my page for apparently no valid reason and I am seeking help so that it can be published. I am happy to make edits if needed, but his stated reasons don't make sense and he refuses to respond to my request for clarification, so I don't know what else to do.

--Fefu2011 Fefu2011 (talk)

This does not specifically require an action that only an administrator can perform. Any editor can give advice on editing. I have changed your tag to the more general help tag. 331dot (talk) 01:15, 27 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]
I have given you this advice before:
  • Remove references from subjects who have their own Wikipedia page linked and whose pages document their connection with NIDA.
  • For now, leave out any alums who do not have their own Wikipedia article.
  • Remove the lists of awards won by alumni.
I can't guarantee that this will get your draft past the reviewers' inspection, but it will make it fall much more closely in line with Wikipedia's standard policies regarding standalone list articles. — jmcgnh(talk) (contribs) 02:42, 27 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]
(edit conflict) Hello, Fefu2011! Hope you're well. So, first: admins are simply editors who have more tools, which is why their symbol's a mop. Use the normal help template first. If the normal editors patrolling can't help, we'll escalate it to an admin for you.
To piggy back off Jmcgnh's response: Articles for Creation (AfC) has more than one reviewer, so likely, someone else will look at your resubmission. Please only resubmit after you've done what Jmcgng's suggested. I'd also take a look at some lists that have gone through a review process, Wikipedia:Featured lists#College or university alumni, faculty and related people. Some of the lists were promoted several years ago, and the criteria may have evolved since then. Of course, a list on NIDA alumni will look different than one for Dartmouth, for example, but looking at the Featured Lists will give you an idea of what sourcing and structure you're going for. Good luck! Rotideypoc41352 (talk · contribs) 02:55, 27 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Alumni article

[edit]

As reviewing administrator, I came across this just before it is scheduled for deletion. You seem to have already added all of this material to the main article for the Institute. Why are you trying in both places? If it is your intent to split the article , the way to go about it is to make the request on the talk page of the article. If nobody responds after a week or two, get in touch with me. I'm going to posttpone deletion a little to give you a chance to straighten this out. DGG ( talk ) 02:46, 19 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]
